Sr. Operation engineer at NATIONAL ELECTRICITY CORPORATION

• Supervise the preparation of the unit before starting it and this include visual inspection beside the unit, checking that the barring is working, auxiliary LO pump is working, starting of cooling water pumps and FO forwarding pump operation, , , etc.
• Observe the unit during starting by checking all parameters related such pressure, temperature, speed, and perform correct action in case of abnormalities, this process is continue from zero speed up to full speed no Load (FSNL).
• After checking that all parameters are fulfilled at FSNL the unit connected to the grid manually or automatically through synchronization process, after the unit is connected to the grid by closing generator circuit breaker (CB), the unit load increased gradually up to load dispatch center (LDC) request.
• All connected units observed continuously by operation staff in the control room and besides the unit any abnormalities, important and critical events and action applied recorded in the log sheet related to each unit.
• Prepare mid night report at the end of the day for each unit this report include the generated power, auxiliary consumption, FO consumption, running hours, delivery, stock, water consumption, specific fuel consumption (sfc), , , etc.
• Issued permit to work (PTW) for all works carried out in the plant and make the isolation required and also observed the closing process of PTW after work completed.
• Observed the unit during shutdown process from load removing, generator CB opening, FSNL to zero speed and checking the starting of the auxiliary LO pump and barring device of the shaft operated, and also stopping of the unnecessary auxiliaries at appropriate time.
Manage the operation staff during shift period. Issue defect card around the plant, administrate all the auxiliary plant

• Responsible to load dispatch center for the required loading of the unit, make sure that the N.E.C safety rules are applied, perform the on job training for the operation staff, administer the shift according to N.E.C regulations, make sure that the required quantities of fuel, water and oil are available, issues Defect card to the maintenance department
• During erection period of the two new gas turbines (GT3 & GT4) I shared in installation of many equipment’s e.g. air intake filter unit, starting motor, accessory gear box, turbine rotor, load gear box, FO forwarding pump units.
• Participate in the commissioning of (GT3 & GT 4).
• Maintenance team leader during executing of preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Participate in troubleshooting for many problems occurred during the period I spent in operation and maintenance.
• Lead the execution of many preventive and corrective maintenance for gas turbine equipment’s such as FO forwarding pumps, atomizing air compressor, high pressure FO pump, atomizing air compressor, flow divider, accessory and load gearbox, bearings, fans, , , etc.
