Maintains a 24 hrs Channel 16 watch keeping and issues Navigational warnings and relays to sectional head and vessel captains.
Operate radio equipment in order to communicate with ships, mining crews, offshore oil rigs, logging camps and other remote operations.
Monitor emergency frequencies in order to detect distress calls and respond by dispatching emergency equipment.
Communicating and controlling movement of inbound/outbound ships.
Arranging mooring crew, tugs, pilot boat and pilot for the vessels, during berthing and sailing.
Making movement related data entry and submitting daily statements.
Communicating with agents of various shipping company in regards to safe movements and needs of ships.
Receive and transmit signal/messages to the vessels which are in the harbor and keep visual watch through VTS screen and sending alerts in case of emergency.
Maintain station logs of messages transmitted and received for activities.
Accurately receives and passes on all communications (including fax) between Barges, Supply boats and other vessels, the Port Control Authority and the Coast Guard.
Prepare the V/L movement Report and submit to Harbor Master and distribute to all relevant parties.
Maintain Fuel and Fresh Water Reports from vessels to Harbor Master.
Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Broadcast weather reports and warning.
Coordinating with container and general cargo terminals for efficient and smooth port operations.
Preparing daily vessel reports, and update web portal in shipping/maritime affairs and all concerned.
Conduct periodic equipment inspections and routine tests in order to ensure that operations standards are met.
Coordinate radio-related aspects of locating and contacting ships that are missing or in distress.
Operate sound-recording equipment in order to record signals and preserve broadcasts.
Review applicable regulations regarding radio communications, and report violations.
Send, receive, and interpret coded messages.
Determine and obtain bearings of sources from which signals originate, using direction-finding procedures and equipment.
