• Performed the role of Interdisciplinary Coordinator for US EPR Detailed Design Engineering Project: communicated between the Bechtel and AREVA engineers; interacted between Systems, Design, Project Management and other technical disciplines. Performed vendor oversight, owner’s reviews of AE designs, and ensured design integrity is maintained. Lead a group of 14 engineers.

• Prepared vendor documents, calculations, design packages: Developed safety analysis report (deign certification document) for the US EPR. Generated design packages, calculations, topical reports, technical reports, and summary reports. These documents were submitted to USNRC to obtain USNRC approval of application of the licensed methodologies in the design certification document. Made presentations to the USNRC.

• Prepared Design Change Package for Callaway Nuclear Plant’s modification package of “Replacement Reactor Vessel Closure Head”; performed 50.59 Reviews and updated FSAR, calculations, drawings, and specifications.

• Identified equipment reliability concerns: prepared and implemented modification for the High Pressure Coolant Injection (HPCI) system including 50.59 Review process. It was in response to Significant Operating Event Report, SOER 86-03. Resulted in avoiding unscheduled plant shutdown saving several million dollars.

• Prepared and implemented modification for the Main Steam Isolation Valve Limit Switch. The change increased EQ life from one to three cycles. Resulted in savings $150K each refueling outage and decreased outage workload.

• Managed resolution of over 2250 unauthorized modifications installed since initial construction of plant in response to USNRC Inspection Reports, Notices of Violation, and Confirmatory Action Letter. Our team was successful and our plant was the first nuclear plant allowed to continue operation under a confirmatory action letter.

• Managed reconstitution of Design Basis Document (DBD) program including process improvement and administration by developing new procedures and eliminating discrepancies. Resulted in more accurate and efficient use for regulator, vendor and plant personnel.

• Participated in Utility’s Inspection Preparation Team for NRC 95003 Inspection to respond regulators’ concerns.

• Served as the Configuration Management Supervisor: ensured that the plant configuration conforms with the design and licensing bases and are properly documented.

• Performed thermal-hydraulics, safety analysis, core design, reload design, LOCA analysis, transient analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow, thermodynamics, and two-phase flow for domestic commercial nuclear power plants.

• Generated DBD Reconstitution for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Stations (SONGS), a project valued at $5 million. This project allowed improvement in 10CFR50.59 prepared for SONGS.

• Developed computer code model, which predicted two-phase test results within 10 percent. Benchmarked post-CHF heat transfer package of best-estimate RELAP5 code with FLECHT experiments for both force-feed and gravity-feed re-flooding. Reduced calculated temperature predictions during a severe accident by 300°F.

• Facilitated business development activities in Russia by participating in technical and administrative meetings. Represented ABB CE and coordinated meetings between American and Russian engineers. Acted as Russian language interpreter. ABB CE wan the contract.
