• Provide leadership to a team of 9 members in managing the PAN UAE HR operations for the largest furniture and home accessories retail company in the Middle East & Northern African region.
• Collaborate with respective department heads for mapping talent requirement plans for the business and presenting detailed plans to the business head for approval
• Follow up with internal & external channels for sourcing of candidates for identified job requirements.
• Prepare detailed job descriptions for identified positions and guide team members in catering to other requisites for fulfilling the position
• Organize local/ overseas recruitment drives and been a panelist visiting (Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia, India) for various positions like Sales Associates, Merchandise Analysts, Cashiers, Furniture / Household Managers, Store Managers, Accountants, HR Assistants, etc.
• Maintain updated performance management system for employees as a part of the Talent Management process. Follow up with managers in defining departmental KPIs, conducting annual appraisal for staff for preparing/ presenting consolidated report with ratings to the business head for effective decision making.
• Set up strategic partnerships with L&D for conducting Assessment Centers across the territory as an “Assessor”.
• Implement development centers and even other organization development initiatives like rewards & recognition - Employee of the Month / Quarter roll out and Work life Quality Surveys followed by updating findings to the senior management
• Manage employee relations (grievance redressal & counseling), employee engagement activities like Sports Fest, Annual Party, Fun Day mania as well as other employee welfare schemes like conducting periodic medical checkup, monitoring/ maintaining facilities at the accommodation aimed at enhancing employee satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Responsible for the HR reports, including the attrition analysis report on monthly basis to be shared with Senior Management whilst facilitating the separation procedures, conducting exit interviews for managers and above.
• Maintain updated knowledge of UAE labour laws encompassing visa control process for new recruits, visa renewals for existing employees, cancellation of visas for separating employees.
• Interact and liaising with the PRO in effectively resolving critical/ legal issues with potential business impact.
• Managed joining formalities of new employees in the organization, conducted induction training followed by presenting detailed feedback and analysis report to the VP-HR, for effective decision making
• Drafted/ presented HR policies aligned to market dynamics and industry standards to the Senior Management for approval, prior to implementation.
• Maintained regular interaction with employees through various formal & informal channels for effectively resolving identified grievances/ issues
• Coordinated activities related to employee confirmation by providing line manager feedback to probation employees, processing/ issuing letters and maintaining updated monthly report
• Updated the Performance Management System by following up with respective department heads and presenting detailed report to the VP-HR
• Collaborated with internal & external trainers in organizing training sessions for employees based on business and operational requirements, followed by conducting the training evaluation and effectiveness.
• Organized and conducted HR Interviews for developers, technical architects and team leading roles
• Followed up with team members in updating Attendance Management System and employee records. Managed organizational development activities like Quality Work Life Surveys, Suggestion Schemes etc
• Interacted with managers in implementing rewards & recognition process, administering separation procedures & conducting exit interviews
• Prepared/ presented detailed reports to the senior management to enable effective decision making
• Functioned as Secretary to the Arrk Foundation involved in managing Corporate Social Responsibility as well as Founder and Convener of the Cultural Zone involved in organizing events, team briefs, get-together in the organization.
• Handling the recruitment process, assisting the Departmental Head (HRD & Admn), by co-ordinating with the consultants, screening bio-datas, scheduling interviews and also conducting preliminary interview sessions.
• Handled the Employee Relations (grievance redressal and counseling) at the plant and also at the Corporate Office, whereby having a continuous rapport with the workers and also the employee to understand their concerns and grievances, and also escalating if cannot be resolved immediately within the stipulated time frame
• Taken care of substantial areas of Time office activities, which includes Attendance Management System on the (STAR) package, preparation of Headcount Reports, Contract Labour Attendance Reports, maintenance of Leave Records etc.
• Taken initiative in conducting training programmes for Apprentices, Engineer (Trainees), Junior Engineers and Officers, where the area of focus was on “Behavioral and Attitudinal Development”.
• Also taken care of statutory provisions and compliances, Liaising with government agencies, i.e Asst Labour Commissioner’s Office, Labour Court, MIDC, MSEB, Local Police Station etc.
• Handling daily inter-office correspondence work i.e. drafting of memos and other documents, circulars and notices.
• Taken care of Transportation activities by calling for quotations, preparing routes etc, handling canteen activities, by inspecting the hygiene and quality of the food, and also taking care of the Housekeeping activities of the office premises.
• Also won an award for giving one of the best suggestions during the suggestion scheme week held at Hikal Ltd. for the “5-S Japanese Concept” of keeping the workplace clean and hygienic for better productivity.
• Been a committee member of the CPEG (Cost Pruning Exercise Group) for cost effectiveness and restructuring.
