Set a positive tone and strong work ethic, leading by example
•Train and educate your team on Specialty Coffee’s process and policies
•Recruit, hire, train, and supervise cafe staff
•Oversee scheduling of staff members and be able to quickly find replacements in the event of a staff
member being sick or absent
•Monitor budgets to ensure that the coffee Shop remains profitable. Actively find ways to lower
operational costs while expanding the cafe’s customer base
•Monitor and maintain inventory
•Work closely with customers to answer questions and listen to complaints regarding food quality and
customer service before working to resolve those complaints promptly
•Listen to customer preferences and make suggestions for menu items
•Communicate information and any changes to your team
•Make the barista schedule, working with availability and shift preferences as much as possible
•Hold your team accountable using Coffee Shop’s discipline protocol (the steps in this protocol should
be discussed/carried out in person, not over texts, emails or phone calls)
•Keep the store clean and presentable, modifying checklists as needed to maintain a clean environment
•Delegate and complete tasks on the checklist (for the appropriate shift) with initials by who did what
task, working ahead to ensure completion before the shift is over. Stay until it is completed.
