DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT: Approached to relocate to the United Arab Emirates in 2006 as the DOT's Maritime Advisor to provide high-level strategic and technical advice and oversight of the Seaports and Marine Transportation sectors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Seconded to the Maritime Security Executive Committee to advise on the development and implementation of a comprehensive Maritime Strategy for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

THOMPSON CLARKE SHIPPING: Principal and Director of Australia’s leading shipping consultancy practice from 1996 to 2006 providing advice to a diverse client base in government and industry specialising in marine management and organisational issues, marine safety, marine environment protection, maritime emergency response and maritime security.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN COASTAL SHIPPING COMMISSION (STATESHIPS): Appointed by the Minister for Transport in 1994 as Chief Executive Officer to assess the extent of the problems being faced by Stateships, refocus the organisation and introduce strategies to reduce the losses being experienced by the State owned shipping service.

AUSTRALIAN MARITIME SAFETY AUTHORITY: Contracted to provide the Secretariat to develop and execute the Asia-Pacific Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (the Tokyo MOU) to combat sub-standard shipping trading in the region.

ASP SHIP MANAGEMENT: Appointment as Chief Executive of ASP Ship Management in 1991 following the merger of the ship management operations of Associated Steamships and Australian National Line.

ASSOCIATED STEAMSHIPS: Following a seagoing career with Associated Steamships, accepted a shore based position and progressed to being appointed as its Managing Director in 1990 with responsibility for the operation of Australia's largest fleet of vessels engaged in both international and coastal trades.
