13 000m2 Medical facility in Strasbourg for IHU (The Institute of Image-Guided Surgery)
which will host the latest medical imaging technologies, such as hybrid operating rooms.
The building consists of 4 levels: Ground floor Outpatient VIP department-1st Floor Hybrid
operating rooms and suite -2nd Floor Research and R&D facilities 3rd Floor.
Experimental/Simulation interventional Department.
Delivery due mid 2016.
PPP initiatives with industrial partners: Karl Storz, SIEMENS, MAQUET, DRAGER.
Operation cost: 44M Euros.
Scope of work:
- Project coordination, schedule planning, quality and cost control.

Managing a team of architects, quantity surveyor, specs writers, MEP and structural engineers all in house for the refurbishment of the building as interior works, MEP and fire safety updates mainly and some minor revamping and renovations of the roofs and facades.

The budget for example of Prince Salman Hospital 220 Beds and its auxiliary buildings (Housing, recreation centre and Mosque) is 47M 515Th USD.

SENIOR ARCHITECT PROJECT MANAGER at BURT HILL a STANTEC company.

Senior architect, project manager for the completion of the Mafraq dialysis center in Abu Dhabi.- Client SEHA. Project manager ALLEN&SHARIFF. Dialysis center will be operated by FRESENIUS MEDICAL SYSTEMS.

This building is SEHA first project, and the first Dialysis centre to be implemented in Abu Dhabi, which will be followed in the near future by other dialysis centers in Al Ain and in Sheikh Khalifa medical site.

Building cost : 95 million AED 26 100 000 USD

Status : Construction is ongoing.

My scope of work consists of the following:
• Responsible for the performance of Architectural, Landscape, Interior Design of this health care building.
• Manage relationships with the Client and project management team and organise weekly meetings with them.
• Treating contractual Agreements with Clients and/or Sub-Consultants.
• Financial control to prepare and implement project fee schedules.
• Managing a team of an architect, a landscape architect and field inspectors.
• Delivering designs and documents which respond to all constraints such as regulatory authorities, construction detailing, etc;
• Reviewing documents in various phases for design intent, materials use and construction administration (shop drawings)
• Coordinating with contractor and his sub contractors, and regulatory local agencies as necessary in meetings, drawings, workshops and other forms of communication (RFI’s etc...).
• Proposing improved value engineering solutions on technical issues influencing design. (Design intent, cost and time control).
• Communicating with governmental agencies or officials for purpose of approvals and permits.
• Conducting on-site observations and compliance checks on previously reviewed design work. (Inspection requests, issuing field instructions or non conformance reports etc...).
• Implementing design work through to construction phase and completion.

Record architect at Gebara Architects
  • Syria - Aleppo
  • April 2010 to July 2010

Preliminary study for the construction of a medical centre, treating cancer diseases, City of Aleppo, Syrian Arab republic.

I was designated as the record architect for this project work directly with the client.
A technical detailed design program was set by myself, and was submitted to the client.
We achieved the project till the end of preliminary phase. The project stopped because of budget cuts.

Program=
Oncology: Radiotherapy (including two bunkers for particle accelerator) brand ELECTA, Chemotherapy.
Nuclear medicine, Imaging, Endoscopy, Operation theatres, Sterilisation, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Dietary kitchen relay, General logistics, internal parking space, administration.
Hostelry section (in and out patient) : 40 full equipped rooms including suites and rooms for disabled. The hostelry section includes besides the rooms, reception lounge, care preparation rooms, disinfection rooms, and staff premises etc

PROJECT AND DESIGN TEAM LEADER at AART-FARAH

Since 2006 as an expatriate in the island of Tahiti responsible for the construction of the hospital.
Main Architect on site in charge of the project supervision and delivery.

Construction cost : 160 000 000 € (one hundred and sixty millions Euros).

EX General contractor : Bouygues bâtiments.

. I have worked on this project as main architect since 2000, throughout all phases :

- The design competition, sketch design:

-Preliminary design and design development.

-Co-ordination studies.

-Tender phase (tender and building contract documentation)

-Production documentation review.

- Assistance with practical completion

• The building is delivered to the client by medical service (UIC, Emergency, operating block etc…). The in-fine users (medical staff) defined a priority list of the services they want to move in first. This list was negotiated with the architect and a schedule was set.
• Once a medical service is considered finished by the architect, a first visit is made by the architect and the contractor, and an eventual listing of observations is made to contractors.
• The client who sets eventual observations and decides that the medical service is completed does a second and final visit.

The challenge was to:
Achieve innovative designs while respecting the Chinese cultural aspects (Feng shui, in room space distribution, local use of housing etc…)
Negotiate and exchange views in order to reach unanimous decisions.

Development of the tender of a home for the elderly for the foundation Cognac-Jay.
- Refurbishment of the saint James hotel in Bouliac city of Bordeaux. Establishment appointed as relais & châteaux de France.

Beauty of the design and architectural object was the prime goal to achieve.
The hotel needed a lift up, the challenge was to renovate the building whilst finding better and longer lasting design solutions.
