Store Manager for four of seven years with Hardware and lumber, a retail hardware, Sanitary items, general merchandising store and thereafter three years with the Supermarket Arm Hilo Foods Stores both located in the resort town of Ocho Rios.
In both positions the units were managed has a profit centre; creating budget sales target and inventory/stock turnover. My role was clearly the department head with control and supervision of staff and management of compound .
Account responsiblity was shared with the Head Office but our core figures were prepared by the local unit.
Strategic plans, sales programs and stores layout and demographics were under my portfolio and monthly plans and comparisons to budget and prior year performance were each monthend with senior management.
Inventory Management and Coldroom Management were my two main areas of control at the Supermarket;being a trained A/C Technician i was in charged of the functioning of the refigerators and Cold room. Supervision of the Accounting and Banking area was also assigned but i had a Supervisor incharge for duties of that design. I was also the location Manager to Western Union Transfers at the Hardwares Store.
