EASTERN ESTATES RECONSTRUCTION & DEVELOPMENT FUND is a government firm established to take care of rebuilding and developing the Eastern Sudan Region which was recently emerged from wars to peace.
Start the establishment of the Unit from scratch, set the goals, define the tools and state the vision and mission. Have to establish the organization chart, edit the scopes and responsibilities for all Unit members, create the relations and define the members' qualifications, and estimate the cost for furniture, computers, printers, water coolers, etc. Estimate the members' salaries and estimate the monthly budget for running the Unit. Above said are my responsibilities in this time.
The Unit first task is to select a consulting company to review the designs already prepared for water projects in the eastern region, share in the selection of contractors to execute these projects and inspect the works of these contractors and issue them completion certificates and control the quality of work done. The consultant also has to make sure that the projects be completed within time limits and within budget. Part of these goals already achieved, the consultant is chosen, the designs reviewed and the contractors selection is also finished and the contracts are prepared and parties ready to sign. These projects are of small size financed by Arab funds of ten million USD and they are as in details below:
1. Group I: Desalination Plants; design, construction and commissioning of four desalination plants in Red Sea Wilaya of 250 - 500 cubic meters of pure water per day.
2. Group II: Purification Plants using multimedia pressure filters to purify water. There are 19 units or stations in Gadarif and Kasala states.
3. Group III: Boreholes (deep wells) and water yards 19 such stations determined to constructed to help solving drinking water problem in the Region.
4. Group IV: three small dams of one million cubic meters capacity each are to be constructed in Gadarif State for drinking of natives and their animals and to recharge the up-stream ground water aquifers.

as a senior embankment engineer playing the consultant role in the project, had to follow up all Contractor activities in the Project : had to follow the quality control; in the embankment or borrow areas where the construction material had to be prepared. To check wheather the Contractor is following the schedule or laging behind and what reasons for any delay or or any quality problem and had to attend the regular meetings in office or field, with client or Contractor or both.

The Company main works is the piling works it has machines for drilling and doing foundation works for different construction projects; electrical tower foundations, oil and gas pipe racks, pipe sleepers and control buildings foundations. The Company was main contractor in Bashair Harbour in red sea region.
I came to the company for a job which is the completion of the construction of Tharjath Central Processing Facility (CPF) Project; the client was White Nile Operating Company (WINPOC). The Project consists of buildings; control room, offices, toilets, masjid and camp. The project also consists of the construction of earth fill pad where the buildings are part of this pad. The pad also contain the oil storage tanks and treatment tanks. Part of our contract was to excavate and construct the earthen tank foundations up to the concrete ring beams

Project Coordinator and Cost Controller at Danfodio Consortium of National Companies

The Consortium was organized from a combination of four major Sudanese companies to work as subcontractor to CCMD for the execution of Merowe Dam; the largest dam in the country.Danfodio Holding is the leader of this consortium. They win two contracts from the CCMD; one for transportation and the other for construction of some parts of the dam. Each contract amount was USD60 million. The construction contract project manager was located in Khartoum and his assistance at site. Myself is one of two major assistance at site.

The Contract main activities were the excavations of rock-fill concrete faced embankments, back filling of the rock-fill embankments, concrete works on the concrete faces of the embankments. Removal of huge volumes of sands from Merowe island to stockpiles away from dam site and dam axis. One important part of that contract was the construction of the Contractor Camp, offices, labor camp, workshop, explosives stores and hospital.
All above Contract components were finished within the period of eighteen months and handed over to main Contractor.

I had the responsibility of coordinating between these four companies personnel at site and have direct supervision on their activities at site. I had to prepare the payments and follow their approvals.

Projects Manager at Elrenk for Roads and Bridges

Elrenk is a Sudanese company founded by Saudi business man, called Abu abdul Rahman to work in the oil field and in road construction. He imported to the country more than one hundred fifty earth moving equipment but unfortunately the machines were old most of them manufactured in nineteen eighties, this increased the running cost lot. The man faced great opposition from the customs authorities and at last he paid alot of money to release the equipment. Large workshop with big manpower was built and high consumption of spare parts hindered abu Abdul rahman and limited his ambitions. Within the short period we spend in the company we succeeded to win two good subcontracts; one fro Higlig Company to construct thirty kilometers of road in Elrenk Fulluj road - an important road leading to the rich oil fields in the south.

Last Project I execute in this organization is Roseires Dam Heightening Project
responsible for:
Planning, Production, Quality Control and lab tests, and Supervision of material production.
Also participated in Dam embankment construction and well aquainted with methodologies, equipment, plans and techniques to achieve high quality work in optimum time period.

I worked with this organization in other projects which were irrigation projects. Construction of canals and building of pump houses taking from Blue Nile, the main tributary of River Nile coming from Ethiopia.Fully involved in supervision of Construction of hydraulic Structures in es Suki and er Rammash irrigation projects. Construction of fifty eight houses in twenty-two location in er Rammash Project.
from above projects I gained large experience in management of manpower, machinery and big knowledge of costing for irrigation projects, road projects and others.

It mainly looks on landfill managements and effect of leachates from such lands due to ground water if touched the land fill bottoms or surface water when landfill surface is exposed to rains and comment on how to protect landfill bottom from groundwater intrusions and how to protect the surface from rains by curving the surface and seal it . The dissertation also speaks about how to monitor such landfills by making quality measurements for surface water and making boreholes to manage the groundwater.
