I have managed to ensure that the store delivers results consistently rather than delivering a set of roller coaster results. Profitability for the store has improved and costs have been reduced. I have made sure the store has a succession plan in place. Improved customer service levels and store standards have helped increase footfall by an average of 10% and also increased sales by 8% on budget.

I have had two general assistants promoted to the management field and one duty manager promoted to a store manager. I have improved the store morale and improved absence tremendously. I have made work a place where people want to work and everyone works as a team to achieve the desired results. The proof is that the store was not achieving any monthly bonuses for achieving KPIs but now the store has had a bonus every month since I joined. I have converted a broken store to a fully functional and profitable branch of Tesco Stores Ltd. Sales have grown by an average of 30%.

Responsibilities:
At all times I had to manage, motivate and inspire every member of my team to achieve excellence. This does require hard work, but I was rewarded and achieved the satisfaction of seeing my business succeed and grow.



Skills needed:
Great leadership skills are so important, not to mention high levels of self-motivation, a 'can-do’ approach and the ability to keep every aspect of my business well organised. Above all, I was able to get on well with all kinds of people. My customers were the lifeblood of my business, and keeping them satisfied and returning to my Shell Station again and again is the most important skill I had.

I increased the sales by 25% and also improved store standards. I improved the customer services in store by training my staff and keeping them motivated at all times. I also introduced computer based ordering to the business and up skilled my staff on stock control routines.
