At LUMS, I was responsible for Sourcing, Import and Local Procurement of Scientific Laboratory Equipment, consumables and related stuff for the School of Science and Engineering (http://sse.lums.edu.pk/). Main responsibilities include:

Coordinate with end user to inquire about their requirements and needs of scientific laboratory equipment, chemicals and other consumables and plan for the acquisition of the stuff timely and cost effectively.
Make arrangements to generate RFQs or advertise tender notices in newspapers and on PPRA (Public Procurement Regulatory Authority) website where applicable.
Prepare CS and seek approvals from higher management and place purchase order.
Prepare L/C documentation and forward the same to bank for L/C establishment (both foreign and inland).
Arrange insurance of all the consignments.
Notify suppliers and forwarding agents regarding establishment of the L/C and advance payment and pursue them to make shipments as per schedule.
Monitor status of each shipment and make necessary arrangements to expedite if there is any delay or setback.
Keep record of all the consignments arrived at Seaport / Airport and Dryport and arrange custom clearance of the same through clearing agents.
Ensure safe receipt of the consignments imported or procured locally into warehouse.
Coordinate with end user and store department to generate SIR and deploy the items into labs for use / installation.
Provide necessary documents to Accounts department to make payment to local vendors, forwarding / clearing agents, insurance company or others and complete the accounting procedures.
Help SSE administration make contracts and agreements related to SSE operational needs with appropriate firms.
In addition to SSE scientific laboratory equipment procurement I look after imports of other departments of LUMS also including but not limited to Library, IST, CS and NMF (LUMS Parent body).
Any other tasks as and when assigned by my supervisor.

Import Officer at Syed Bhais (Pvt.) Limited

At Syed Bhais (Pvt.) Limited, as a team member, I was involved in Planning, Sourcing and Import of raw materials & components for the manufacture of Energy Meters, Electric Panels and Transformers. My main responsibilities were to:
