Support the IT Data Center Operations of the Meteorological Department of Kuwait, under DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) based in Kuwait International Airport.
Responsible for computer operations, processing, maintenance and monitoring on a day to day basis, including month end processing, batch-job processing, centralized back-up solutions, DR solutions and automation solutions.
Monitor all HP-UX servers, other IT equipment in the Data Centers that form the backbone of IT infrastructure.
Manage system backups as per defined procedures and frequencies, responsible for conducting periodic checks to restore backup data to test integrity of backups.
Support all the technical activities in the data center of MDP department which is monitored 24/7. This includes routine maintenance, technical help desk, monitoring and response to alarms, power supply, temperature & humidity control equipment, fire detection & suppression systems, etc
Identification and replacement of faulty hardware parts to lowest replaceable unit (LRU) level and replacement of consumables.
To report any irregularities observed or reported and to monitor and escalate these issues.
To liaise with IT Helpdesk staff in communicating with end users regarding planned and unplanned system outages and critical incident reports.
Recommend system and procedural changes as needed, based on day-to-day operations.
Upgrade of the MDP supplied workstations from Redhat 4 to Redhat 6.
Monitoring the forecasters systems on Redhat Linux for performance tuning.
Support the 24/7 forecasting operations.
Administration and troubleshooting of Redhat Linux, Windows 2003 & Sun Solaris Servers.
Perform systems backup and restoration - disaster recovery.
Administration of Email Server - Windows.
Implementing change control and insuring that changes to the production systems are properly coordinated.
Diagnose and resolve complex configuration and troubleshooting issues within a multi-vendor infrastructure in the data center.
Third level IT support. Troubleshooting operating systems, networks & database queries by remotely accessing systems and providing solutions, thus saving a lot of time.
Possess knowledge of Linux operating system concepts, including file system, kernel memory, networking and security concepts, Apache and Bash scripting.
Possess information about ERP, CRM and BI application suites.
Conduct meetings with the Systems & Networks Manager and plan for making the IT operations secure and better.
Systems event monitoring, reporting and rectification in DU telecom Data Center.
Ensure & maintain up-to-date systems security by regularly monitoring the application layer, firewall and related security applications.
First level support of all systems faults.
Define user access by hierarchy and security access level.
Proactively maintain accurate application licensing information used in production.
Perform systems backup and restoration.
Single point of contact between Qtelmedia and the systems infrastructure vendors.
Conduct monthly systems security audit, detect & escalate systems security loopholes if any on Linux RedHat and Microsoft Windows platforms.
Maintain username & password in accordance to access hierarchy and security level.
Maintain systems assessment changes by executing approved Systems Change Requests.
Perform first & second level systems diagnostic prior to escalate to vendors.
Secondary role and responsibilities:
First & second level of network maintenance and troubleshooting.
Conduct monthly network security audit.
Assist in documentation and network maintenance process.
Assisting handset specialist, regularly perform handset testing with mobile operators.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date handset database.
Perform routine checks to ensure QMS (Qtelmedia Management System) is running correctly and in healthy state.
Integration of QMS with mobile operators.
Assist in database and application development.

Connectivity from encoders and decoders
Encoder operations to ensure smooth encoded output
Assist in Helix universal streaming servers’ maintenance.
Maintain and Support Liberty Automobiles Wide Area Network.
Configure & Monitor Checkpoint VPN & security appliances.
Maintain VPN, Firewall and ADSL services with sonicwall and checkpoint.
Handling E-Mail Accounts on MDaemon on Windows 2003 server.
