I am currently working as an OR (Operating Room) staff nurse at Bethany Hospital from May 01, 2008 up to the present. Bethany Hospital is an 80 bed capacity tertiary hospital and can reach up to 100-150 bed capacity as needed during seasons of epidemic diseases.
JOB DESCRIPTION: OR-DR
1. Assists in all nursing activities during operation and/or delivery procedures such as: ➢ Direct care to patients to meet their physical and psychological needs during the operation and/or delivery and observes patients for possible reactions during and after operation and/or delivery.
➢ Care and handling of surgical supplies and equipments and sets up instruments and supplies which may vary according to the type of operation and surgeon's preference.
➢ Carrying out aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures in surgical operation/delivery procedure.
➢ Assists surgeons during the entire operation/delivery with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
2. Assists new staff and nurse students during orientation period.
3. Educates patients and relatives regarding health care.
4. Maintains complete records of patients and operative procedures done.
5. Ensures narcotics, local anesthesia and other drugs are accounted for, recorded and charged accordingly.
6. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
