• Active participation in Joint Commission on International Accreditation (JCIA) at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi in 2011, which achieved full JCI Accreditation, with Infection Control Department - top achiever of all departments in the facility. I assisted in addressing Quality Improvement processes:
Facility Management (FM) - Routine inspection during construction/renovation activities, checking for barriers to contain dust and debris. Construction/Renovation site audits (ICRA) done to evaluate compliance with Infection Control and General Safety standards. Subsequent follow-up with Facilities Management to reinforce good practices for the safe and efficient delivery of services, and address non-compliance of FM staff.
Policy/Protocol Design/Review - Review, critique, update and design of clinical policies and protocols, such as the Construction and Renovation policy.
Joint Governance - Nursing Department in liaison with Infection Control Department set up combined governance of Infection Control through use of the Nursing Supervisors to preside over infection control decisions over weekends and after hours in the absence of the Infection Control Team.
Healthcare facility rounding - Scheduled and unscheduled interdepartmental visits to assess healthcare practices on the floors
Disease identification and strategy implementation: amongst others, Integrated Surveillance to monitor for infectious alerts.
Documentation - Electronic and Paper-based.
Occurrence reporting for adverse incidents, addressing deficits as to:
Staff knowledge of the disease,
Staff knowledge of correct procedure to follow
Contact/Reporting, i.e. Infection Control department or Infectious Diseases consultant on duty
Disruption/Breakdown in: System (e.g. unable to communicate due to faulty electronic system), Staff communication e.g. incorrect/insufficient communication.
