Import Documents Coordinator (June 2008 - Jan 2012)
A) Lodgement of Import Docs.
• Scrutiny of Import Collection Documents and LC Documents
• Attaining a comprehensive knowledge of The Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP), International Standard Banking Practice (ISBP) and The Uniform Rules for Collections, 1995 Revision, ICC Publication No 522.
• Receiving and handling documents received from foreign banks.
• Entering details of LC documents in the system database and sending claim messages to Reimbursing Banks.
• Correspondence with foreign banks regarding related discrepancies and/or queries using swift messages - MT 199, MT 202, MT499, MT 799 and MT 999.
• Coordination with related Relationship Managers regarding the status of a particular document.
• Co-ordinating with compliance department for sanctioned ports or vessels involved.
B) Settlement of the Import Bills
• Reviewing LCs and processing their payment
• Processing payments of Import Collection Documents
• Lodging Trust Receipts, Shipping Guarantees and Delivery Orders
• Checking Client accounts
• Issuing Pay Orders and Telegraphic Transfers.
II) Import Documentary Credit Analyst. (Jan 2012 - Present)
Deployed in our Documentary Credit Issuance Department. I am in charge of :
- Issuing LCs (Letters of Credit) and ensuring that they are issued as per rules and regulations of UCP 600 and our policies. (MT700)
- Issuing LC Amendments. (MT707)
Other responsibilities include :
• Corresponding with banks using SWIFT communications (MT799 and MT999)
• Sending foreign bank charges using MT202.
• Corresponding with branches.
