In my role as Director of Admissions from 1997 to 2010, I had the opportunity to travel to many countries around the world and meet international students. I would work with their families to have them come to Canada to study and learn the skills they will need so they could pursue their post-secondary endeavors. In this role, my duties included, but were not limited to:
• Attend domestic & international recruiting activities at professional conferences and school fairs
• Develop and implement presentations to domestic and international audiences regarding issues surrounding students with learning difficulties
• Organize recruiting events in international countries (Caribbean and Mexico)
• Develop and build relationships and maintain contact with referral sources to facilitate marketing of the school and to encourage appropriate inquiries
• Attend meetings with representatives from organizations that assist with marketing education
• Develop print and electronic newsletters
• Provide accurate, timely and customer-focused responses to school inquiries
• Interpret the school’s mission to prospective students and parents through visits, tours, etc
• Direct the admissions process from point of inquiry with families through to enrolment
• Coordinate and administer admissions testing
• Assist with organizing and conducting Open Houses and other promotional events
• Participate in the school’s admissions committee meetings
• Plan print and electronic communications to respond to admissions inquiries
• Design promotional materials that interpret the school’s mission to students and parents
• Design, write and manage the school’s website
• Design, write and manage the school’s advertising information
• Maintain information and data on prospective students
• Coordinate re-enrolment activity with monitoring of attrition and retention
• Prepare and maintain statistics regarding enrolment, geographical distribution of students and attrition
