RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Independently handled complete accounts payable and receivables.

• Preparation of MIS reports for monthly and annual reporting.

• Preparation of balance sheets, income statements, P&L statements for senior management and shareholders.

• Preparation of various financial presentations to attract new investors.

• Preparing payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements if any.

• Deftly reviewing and analyzing general ledger accounts for interim and year-end closings.

• Submitting management accounts on quarterly basis containing cash flow statements, income statements & balance sheet to Mauritian Revenue Authority & Australian tax authorities for tax computations.

• Dealing with Standard Chartered bank in Dubai, DBS in Singapore and HSBC in Mauritius for day to day transactions, discussing credit lines, foreign exchange transactions, bank guarantees and rate negotiations for LCs.

• Maintained payroll data; Prepared and processed monthly payrolls.

• Develop, implement, modify and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.

• Secured financial information by maintaining daily database backups.

• Actively involved in proof reading and distributing various financial statements.

• Assisted in legal documentation for building of 4 Kamsarmax vessels.

• Assisted in licensing of Ferro Alloy plant being built in Abu Dhabi free zone.

• Complete knowledge of LC clauses and documents.

• Successfully enchased LCs by submitting required documents.

• Involved in the share transfers of new investors.

• Bank reconciliation.

• Managing and controlling petty cash needs.

• Handled general administrative work in office when needed.


PERFORMANCE MILESTONES:

• Promoted from Junior Accountant to an Accountant in a span of 7 months courtesy of my work ethic and hard work.

• Successfully completed financial audit for the financial year 2013 and 2014 with BDO International.

• Successfully systemized the accounting procedure by shifting company accounts from Focus ERP to Tally ERP in 5 days which resulted in dramatic improvement in the accuracy and timeliness of financial data as well as strengthening relationship with investors and their accountants.

• Successfully documented (hard and soft copies) voyage files ensuring all voyage documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately for easy access and reference.

• Avoided interest charges due to late payment of freights, hires, commissions, etc by working closely with shipping operations team.
