Responsible for the setup of the HR organization for direct Canon operations in Qatar and L&D support for the Regional HQ and reporting directly to the HR Director in Regional HQ. Canon entered the Qatar region as direct operations in 2015 without systems or procedures in place. Shaped HR from the ground up by creating a framework of policies, procedures, services, programs and operations in close collaboration with the business. Provided various company projects development and HR advisory support to the region and business stakeholders.
Key Results:
- Developed and agreed local HR Budget and delivered against these plans
- Supported and coached of line managers for successful implementation of performance drivers and performance enablers
- Led and implemented Canon transformation processes (corporate culture and value, performance and recognition, talent management processes)
- Elaborated and implemented HR and core business projects such as restructuring, lean process improvement, cultural changes

- Developed and formulated local HR Policies to lead corporate practices and abide by local Labour Law

Provided HR support to 900+ staff across 4 Divisions (Energy, Industrial, Oil & Gas, Electrical sectors) and managed aspects of Labor Relations, Executive Recruitment, Employee Engagement, Performance Management and Talent Development. Progressed from Recruitment Specialist role to management of multiple HR functions including Employee Relations and L&D.
Key Results:
- Executed new HR transformation processes (new culture and value, performance and recognition, talent management processes) which resulted in reducing employee turnover from 21% to less than 18%
- Implemented revised HR Recruitment process to decrease the recruitment cycle by creating an employer branding strategy and HR Social Media presence which increased access to relevant candidate pools
- Updated the HR Policies and Procedure Manual that contains the “what, why and how to” on Human Resources and related matters to set the trend for best practices as well as to comply with legal requirements
- Designed and implemented various staff motivational programs, including employee of the year, best salesmen achievement, long service event, as well as corporate gatherings
- Redesigned the HR Administration processes to make it more understandable and to eliminate duplication and effect cost savings
- Conducted disciplinary hearings and employee counseling, provided support and guidance through the process
- Designed and implemented an Induction Program and terms and condition of employment and intrinsic Company information to properly induct and familiarize staff
- Led the implementation project of a company-wide pay scale and salary/benefit alignment and restructure
