Perform complete physical assessments of infants born prematurely (as early as 25 weeks) and born after full gestation.
Care for infants on multiple ventilators including; A/C vents, high frequency oscillators, Inhaled Nitric Oxide, monitoring of ABGs/ CBGs and other modes of respiratory assistance.
Care for infants on the Cool Cap System.
Attend doctor-patient rounds to provide current patient status and aid in plan of care.
Maintenance of patient parenteral and enteral total fluid intake, central and peripheral lines, respiratory care, NG/OG feeding, and development care.
Insertion and maintenance of peripheral IVs as well as monitoring and maintenance of sterilization and patency of Central lines such as UVC, UAC& PICC.
Provide care and maintenance of multiple medications and fluid drips.
Communication and anticipation of family needs and reactions while caring for patient to ensure optimal care and satisfaction.
Help to facilitate a positive atmosphere of team work to create an environment of unity and cooperation among coworkers
Obtain nursing history, documented data, and identify patient care needs.
Observe and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors.
Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and assist others with patient’s activities and care.
Implement physicians orders for all assigned patients safely and properly administer medications and treatments.
Collect specimens ensuring correct labeling.
Supervise staff and maintain cleanliness of area and the ward.
Assist physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations and, diagnostic tests
Advise patients, families regarding special medical problems and proper health care methods.
Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports.
Provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, ROP and nursing students.
