My responsibilities are to oversee a six man team of Safety Professionals during the construction of a 1, 800 Mega Watt Combined Cycle Power Plant. Together we provide guidance and consultation on all aspects of safety to the contractors building the project. We use the WorleyParsons One Way Program to insure safety compliance. I also work with all other WorleyParsons staff and Engineers regarding safety concerns. Including the building of mobile cranes, Personnel Protective Equipment and movement of vehicles on our site. I also chair the site Safety Committee which is made up of the WorleyParsons Safety Team, Contractors Safety Managers and Project Managers. Combined we will have 4, 500 workers during construction.
Sadara is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical Company. They are building a world-scale integrated chemicals complex which will be the world’s largest petrochemical facility ever built in a single phase. The project comprises 26 integrated manufacturing plants producing over 3 million metric tons of product per year and a total investment of $20 billion US dollars.
My role on this project is to conduct safety walkthroughs of each section and make recommendations to the management team to improve safety for the workers on site. There are 60, 000 workers on this project from all over the world. I am also in charge of the Training Department which consists of 13 members. There are two components to the Training Department, Training and Vehicle Inspections. Workers must attend training sessions including Orientation, Lockout/Tagout, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Electrical, and others. All vehicles on this project must be inspected and approved before coming on site. This includes cranes, heavy equipment, pickup trucks and cars.
Worked at Chevron Oil Refinery in El Segundo, CA, conducting safety inspections and audits of Sachs Electric Company employees and processes. Responsibilities included safety training and consulting with management to solve safety related issues. Also, investigated employee injuries, accidents and property damage and recommended corrective actions to prevent future incidents. I met daily with safety representatives from Chevron, Fluor and other contractors on site. I also conducted additional safety training for the contractors working on the Chevron Coker Drum Reliability Project.
I oversee safety of E.ON Climate and Renewables employees and sub-contractors on a Single Axis Tracker Solar Photovoltaic Solar Farm. The site is on 109 acres and produces 10mw of power. I conduct safety inspections, accident investigation, safety training and orientation.
Working at Merom Energy Plant in Sullivan, IN conducting safety inspections and audits of Sachs Electric Company employees and processes. Responsibilities include safety training and consulting with management to solve safety related issues. Also, investigate employee injuries, accidents and property damage and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents. I also meet daily with safety representatives from the General Contractor, URS, and other contractors on site.
Working at Intel FAB 42 project in Chandler, Arizona conducting safety inspections and audits of Sachs Electric Company employees and processes. Responsibilities include safety training, ordering safety equipment and having two safety managers that report directly to me. I consult with management to solve safety issues related to our scope of work and investigate employee injuries and accidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents. I also meet daily with safety representatives from the General Contractor, Hoffman Construction and other contractors on site. Achieved 150, 000 manhours with Zero Recordable injuries.
Provide safety services including safety training, safety consultation and field safety on a $2.2 billion construction project.
Managed risk and security issues for stores, dispensers, and properties. Ensured continued compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, Fire Department, State and City regulations for hazardous materials and flammable materials storage. Ensured compliance with NFPA standards for inventory control (flammable and combustible materials). Ensured compliance with Maricopa County Environmental Services regulations and standards for food safety. Conducted and managed audits and inspections for the facilities for compliance with OSHA Life Safety Standards and Fire Codes.
Ensured continued compliance of Scottsdale Fire Department (SFD) with regulations, standards, directives, and policies set by federal, state, and local entities such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ICC, ANSI, Department of Labor, the CDC, and Maricopa County. Served as a case manager for managing exposures, work-related and non-duty injuries and illnesses of the departmental employees. Ensures notification, verification, documentation, treatment and follow-up of affected employees.
Coordinated short and long term disability process. Coordinated training to meet OSHA regulations and safety education of SFD. Conducted inspections, analysis potential exposure and provides data related to hazards in occupational environments. Designated member of SFD Safety Committee. Recommended improvement or correction of hazardous environments. Researched all complaints by employees pertaining to health and safety issues.
Inspected County facilities to ensure OSHA compliance. Trained employees in safety topics-workplace violence, defensive driving, use of the fire extinguishers, etc. Coordinated OSHA-mandated occupational safety and health training. Completed all required reports, documents and records. Reduced accident potential through Safety Awareness programs.
Investigated job-related employee injuries and vehicular accidents. Recommended accident prevention techniques for all County departments. Developed written program of standardized safety operating procedures and requirements. Coordinated with outside contractors on training, fire safety and emergency issues.
