• Attends regular clinic sessions and carries out nursing duties either independently and assist physicians in conducting consultations and examinations, for eligible employees and dependents.
• Performs routine nursing procedures, phlebotomy, administration of prescribed and over the counter medications.
• Perform basic physiological measurements including Vital signs monitoring, ECG, Audiometry, Spirometry, Body Composition Analyses Participates in health and wellness promotion activities.
• Provides basic immediate life support treatment and administers more advance life support as directed by a physician. Arranges the transfer of patients requiring hospitalization or other clinical attention.
• Maintain and update nursing records in order to have complete accurate case histories.
• Maintain an exemplary level of confidentiality.
• Constantly evaluate work environment to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
• Take appropriate action to correct deficiencies where necessary.
• Ensure that the disposal of clinical waste is appropriate.
• Monitor supply levels and maintain adequate, cost effective levels of medical supplies.
• Monitor validity of expiry dates.
• Strive to enhance nursing skills by seeking knowledge and developing Personal Professional Development Plan. Share knowledge gained with peers to the benefits of RasGas.
• Provide work direction and on the job support to entry level nurses to assist in developing potential.
• Promotes health and wellness to all RasGas employees, dependents and eligible contracting staff at all RasGas facilities.
• Duties are undertaken within internationally established codes of conducts in accordance with the nursing profession and possess the educational and training requirements established by Supreme Council of Heath and RasGas to practice as a professional nurse.
• Work in a complex multinational environment where client discretion and confidentiality is crucial.
• Periodic contact with HMC to advocate professional relationships. Includes outpatients, specialities and satellite clinics within the framework, to maintain open lines of communication that will ensure the best medical attention for employees and their families.
• Capable of carrying out routine and emergency duties.
• Aware when situations exceed own level of expertise and actively seek direction when necessary.
• Apply professional training and experience to deliver high quality health care.
• Assist in the development of entry level nurses.
• Works within the framework of established RasGas competencies procedures and guidelines.
• Make decisions limited decisions based on own professional capabilities, but will refer to physician when situation exceeds expertise.
• Undertake preliminary examination of employees. Diagnose and administers treatment. Detect those cases requiring physician involvement.
• Initiate first aid and training for employees.
• Monitor work areas for hygiene and infection control.
• Standardize nursing practice through production and subsequent adherence to policies and procedures.
• Acts as patient advocate at all times.
• There is some independence in planning and organizing work schedules but must be flexible to meet operational requirements.
• Work direction and supervision is provided by the Head Nurse, and in turn these role holders will supervise an direct entry level nurses.
• Take the nursing clinical lead in the absence of the Head Nurse.
• Attends to students who are injured or who become ill while at school, administers first-aid and other emergency nursing treatment.
• Assists in selecting first-aid supplies to be kept at the school and secures and carries out medically approved written instructions for care of sick or injured students.
• Confers with students and parents regarding health problems when requested.
• Assists with a variety of screening activities to ascertain student health appraisal.
• Assists with in-service training activities by giving instructions to students and school personnel in such subjects as nutrition, rest and relaxation, communicable diseases, home health care.
• Maintains accurate and clear records of the health of school children.
• Assists teachers and health authorities when special community health programs are carried out.
• Maintains cooperative working relationships with parents, staff, and other school personnel.
1. Admits patients. Conducts proper assessment of patient handled
2. Identifies nursing needs of patient and gives direct nursing care
3. Performs nursing activities such as bathing and oral hygiene
4. Assists patient in moving and maintaining proper alignment of patient’s body and utilizing good body mechanics
5. Takes and records vital signs
6. Observes signs and symptoms, institutes remedial action when appropriate and documents these in the chart, then refer accordingly
7. Acts as liaison between patients and hospital personnel
8. Performs intravenous insertion, catheterization and nebulizations.
9. Knowledgeable and skillful in handling medical equipment such as ECG machine, nebulizer, defibrillator and cardiac monitor.
10. Performs Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
11. Performs irrigations and give enemas
12. Administers medicine correctly and record patient’s reaction to the chart
13. Sees to it that equipments and supplies received are in proper care and maintenance, report immediately for any defects
14. Discharges and transfer patients and give health teachings accordingly
15. Performs post mortem care
16. Listens and observes patient’s emotional and spiritual needs.
17. Teaches and directs non-professional nursing personnel
18. Acts as charge nurse when delegated, medication nurse or vital signs nurse
19. Maintains good relationships with other hospital personnel
20. Attends meetings and conferences
