From November 2008, till now
- Internal medical practice of multi system affected elderly patients with multiple pathologies with all levels of criticality, and acute internal medicine in and outpatient care. Plus the following:
• I am coordinating a team in EKKCMC for comprehensive geriatric medical, physical, psychological and social rehabilitation. EKKCMC accepts patients with sub acute and post acute and chronic medical conditions. It provides comprehensive multidimensional medical care with comprehensive team approach for patients with multiple pathologies and a direct threat for independency. EKKCMC is a 50 beds center that is designed for the mentioned purpose. It accepts patients from SMC “the largest general teaching hospital in Bahrain 1000 beds) for post acute medical care and rehabilitative management. EKKCMC team also ensures best home conditions and care through communication with and training of care givers and coordinating services of mobile home care units. The team consists of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, social worker, nutritionist, occupational therapists and administrative aids. The center was started working in 2008 and from the early beginnings I shared in formulation of its policies and procedures and work regulation and design of conduction of the services and opening the channels of communication with SMC medical and surgical departments. The plans of discharge of the patients are coordinated with all available services like primary health care units, mobile geriatric units for home care and social residential homes and the Muharraq geriatric nursing hospital as a LTC facility.
• I coordinated also an assessment work done to improve Muharraq geriatric nursing hospital (100 long term care beds) including screening of all patients’ conditions medically, physically, socially and psychologically, putting a plan of modification of medical management and reformulation of the work regulation there for more active medical care and more trial for improving and discharging improvable cases.
• Acute general medical emergency consultant on call in SMC medical on call system
Supervision and clinical management of 50 beds of long term care of ARAMCO standard patient care with 10 mechanicall ventilated beds. Including all long tern care cases as dementia, strokes, respiratory failure, multisystem failure and many other chronic medical illnesses. I led a team of nurses, social workers, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, and assisstant physicians.
This plus my work as a consultant of Geriatrics and general internal medicine for management of all levels of elderly health services (primary, secondary and tertiary) including outpatient, inpatient and ICU. Also consultant on call duty for general and geriatric medicine.

** Evaluation of infection control programs in neonatal intensive care units in Ministry Of Health hospitals in Egypt. Co-coordinator of a program to reduce IV fluid contamination and improve infection control practices in NICUs. Training, observation and supervision of NICU staff to infection control practices in 22 NICUs all over Egypt.
* Participation in the development of the Egyptian National Infection Control guidelines, technical editing, revision and translation into Arabic.
* Participation in the development of outlines of the Training of Master Trainers for infection control in Egypt organization of the training and development of training materials and tools.
* Co-coordinating and facilitating the training of master trainers on infection control held from January till July 2003 for preparation of master trainers on infection control for 6 governorates in Egypt and co-ordination with international faculties and foreign trainers. Together with field assessment monitoring, supervision and supporting visits for the 24 infection control teams in the 24 hospitals of the 6 governorates trained.
* Conduction of training of master trainers for infection control in rural health care units in 6 governorates in Egypt including full responsibility of preparing training materials, conducting and supervising training sessions and practical issues.
* Participation in Developing a training manual for infection control to be used in all future infection control training in Egypt.
* Conducting, Co-coordinating and facilitating the training of master trainers on infection control held from January 2004 till July 2004 for preparation of master trainers on infection control for 7 governorates in Egypt. Together with field assessment monitoring, supervision and supporting visits for the 28 infection control teams in the 28 hospitals of the 7 governorates trained.
* Participation in planning, and implementation of the surveillance system for nosocomial infection in Egypt
Management of elderly patients in the outpatient clinic settings and inpatient words for hyper acute, acute, and chronic health problems including ICU admission and management, acute ward management, chronic care, terminal care, and rehabilitation of elderly patients.
This includes all health problems for elderly e.g. chest, heart, internal, neurological, and psychological disorders generally and specific geriatric disorders as dementias, delirium, incontinence, strokes, de-conditioning...etc. Supervising resident doctors and house officers and training of them.
During this period have obtained the Masters and MD degrees in geriatric medicine from faculty of medicine - Ain Shams University.
Part time for diagnosis and management of osteoporosis medically including performing DEXA scan for the patients on inpatient and outpatient settings.
Part time registrar resident in CMC private hospital in Egypt. Responsible for admission, first aid management; follow up, consultant help and co-management, and discharge of patients in the inpatient sector of internal medicine department and medical ICU in the hospital.
Training physician for 1 year then senior doctor for 2 years, then supervisor intensivist till now in the medical ICU in Ain Shams University hospital for 2 to 3 days duty per week. This includes management of critically ill patienys of all ages, advanced monitoring, advanced life supprt measures including mechanical ventilation, CPR, CRRT, Blood component pharesis........etc.
Providing primary care for people in rural areas in Port Saeid including outpatient clinic management, vaccination, mother and child care, first aid medical and surgical services, and hospital referral.
Training physician in departments of internal medicine, chest, general surgery, obestatrics and gynaecology, and pediatrics. 2 months for each.

Advanced studies of geriatrics and gerontology including Thesis submitted for partial fulfillment of the degree of MD in geriatrics, titled “Osteoporosis among Egyptian elderly” Discussed and accepted by Ain Shams University in December 2002. Comprehensive examination in geriatric medicine and basic gerontology and related medical sinces and spcialities including internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, public health and epidemiology, physical medicine and rehabliltaion, pharmacology, pathology and psychaitry.
