Provide supervision for the HSSE staff.
Lead Emergency Response Team at the time of an incident; if not present, direct activities from mobile phone until arrival at the scene.
Provide advice to department heads on issues relating to safety, security, hazardous materials and pollution control.
Coordinate security matters and advise Security Supervisor as required.
Interact with the appropriate port authorities, Coast Guard, police, and civil defense authorities.
Evaluate potential risks to personnel or the port and advises HSSE Manager.
Responsible for authorizing gate passes to the port areas.
Assist HSSE Manager in investigating accidents or other safety/security related incidents.
Conduct HSSE inspection of departments and operate a formal system to follow up on inspections.
Ensure that HSSE equipment is in good working order, tested and maintained regularly, and that repairs are made timely and appropriately.
Assist with safety awareness messages delivered to various departments through team meetings.
Follow existing procedures and while being called up to suggest recommendations for improvement.
Execute environmental management processes such as chemicals and waste management and pollution prevention.
Assist in achieving the health and safety management excellence.
Monitoring of daily activities to ensure strict compliance of safe work practice.
Implementation of IMDG Code over the port facility and calling ships of different types
Attend safety committee meeting.
Performs various duties and activities related to safety & security in the terminal:
a. Conducts safety inspections of work areas, advising supervisory personnel of observed safety hazards or unsafe acts, violation of safety rules and regulations, and prepares safety inspection reports for the safety & security Supervisor.
b. Advises supervisory personnel of appropriate personal protective equipment for workers.
c. Ensures safety rules are posted in visible locations according to Jordanian law and APMT standards.
d. Investigates work related injuries, following trends, conducting thorough investigations, and recommending various solutions, including better communications, training, modifications to work methods or equipment, and the like.
e. Prepare any required statistics and diagrams to indicate safety performance as required.
Ensures safety posters and safety rules are posted in conspicuous places for workers to see regularly.
Performs various duties and activities related to fire prevention and firefighting:
a. Maintains all firefighting equipment to a high standard and ensures equipment is always in good working order.
b. Conducts fire prevention inspections in the port buildings and areas in accordance with fire prevention regulations.
c. Inspects all fire equipment and keeps records of inspections.
d. Coordinates mutual fire protection plans, emergency responses and other department activities with surrounding jurisdictions, other departments and organizations.
e. Responds to all emergencies in the port and renders assistance. Responds as an Emergency Team member to fire, oils spill or other incidents in the port or surrounding area.
f. Participates in oil spill or other hazardous materials clean-up and deploys specialist equipment.
g. Conducts firefighting training, if required, for designated personnel.
Sign work permits for high risk activities like (confined spaces, hot work permits, etc) after checking all safety requirements.
Reports problems and issues to direct Supervisor; especially issues of complexity or great impact on the safety.
Provide proper assistance for inquiries related to IMDG code
