1. The primary responsibility of a computer technician is to maintain server and networks.
2. Perform tasks such as installation, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of computers, network job entry stations and related equipment within the computer network.
3. Computer technician should recommend appropriate network addressing systems, appropriate layouts for various network configurations, and appropriate connection devices.
4. The person should set up and maintain backup system for in-office desktop computers and file servers.
5. Should have knowledge of different operating systems such as Novell NetWare, UNIX, and Windows.
tests, installs, and maintains computer and IT systems, local area networks and wide area networks
troubleshoots hardware and network-related issues
monitoring software programs and maintaining or repairing all peripherals and removable storage devices
keeps records of maintenance work and repairs,
trains users on new software packages and systems,
installs and configures computer and Internet security software
troubleshoots help-desk and Internet connectivity issues
analyzes network performance issues and breakdowns of systems and peripheral equipment, and draws up preventive maintenance checklists in conjunction with other members of the IT team.
