Acting in various arbitrations seated throughout the Middle East. Representative
matters as counsel: acting in an arbitration under the ICC Rules seated in Dubai related to the
construction of mega power project. Acting in several arbitrations under the ICC expedited rules that
are seated in Doha and relate to construction projects. Acting in an arbitration under the QICCA
arbitration rules, seated in Doha that relates to a construction project.
Representative matters as counsel: three Ad Hoc arbitrations in Muscat related to the construction of
a sewerage system, the amounts in dispute range from 3 to 25 million USD. Acting in an arbitration
seated in Muscat arising out of an O&M Agreement for a desalination plant under the DIFC-LCIA
rules, the amount in dispute is 18 million USD. Acting in an ICC arbitration related to the
construction of warehouse complex in Sohar, Oman. Acting in 6 Ad Hoc arbitrations related to
construction projects, all seated in Muscat. Acted in an Ad Hoc arbitration seated in Muscat arising
out of a mining subcontract. Providing pre dispute advice in relation to numerous construction
projects in Oman. Acting in an arbitration seated in Dubai related to the construction of numerous
hotels under the Dubai International Arbitration Centre Rules where the value of dispute is over 100
million USD.
Representative matters as counsel: an ICC arbitration seated in Dubai involving a major construction
project; an ADCCAC arbitration seated in Abu Dhabi involving the breach of agreement related to
the provision of satellite channels; an ADCCAC arbitration seated in Abu Dhabi involving a breach
of a defense contract; an ADCCAC arbitration seated in Abu Dhabi involving the breach of an
agency agreement related to the oil and gas industry; an LCIA arbitration seated in Dubai involving a
construction dispute; an ADCCAC arbitration seated in Abu Dhabi involving a payment dispute with
a contractor; an ADCCAC dispute seated in Abu Dhabi representing a subcontractor in a
construction dispute; an ADCCAC dispute seated in Abu Dhabi representing a contractor in a major
construction dispute; two additional ADCCAC arbitrations seated in Abu Dhabi representing
subcontractors in construction disputes; provided advice regarding expert determination concerning
dispute over a major construction project in Oman; provided advice to numerous clients on a range of
commercial disputes in the UAE. In all of the above matters I have worked in a small team and have
been the lead associate and worked directly with a partner. Speaking engagements include: giving a
seminar at the Abu Dhabi In-house congress "Arbitration clauses, getting them right and what
happens if they go wrong;" giving a lecture to LLM students at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi on
arbitration in the Middle East.
Representative matters as counsel: an ICC arbitration seated in Singapore involving a dispute over a
share purchase agreement; an ICC arbitration seated in Tokyo involving an LNG construction project
and an ad hoc arbitration seated in Tokyo involving a dispute under a pharmaceutical agreement.
I have assisted with various commercial litigation matters in Japan, Australia, California and
Victoria, Australia all involving Japanese parties. In addition to my dispute resolution work I have
assisted with several investigations involving multinational banks and multinational pharmaceutical
companies. I have additionally worked on a number of commercial matters including acting for a
multinational pharmaceutical company entering into a manufacturing and license agreement with a
Japanese company; I have acted for a Japanese bank in the sale of assets in Argentina; I have also
acted for various Japanese companies in a number of mergers and acquisitions.
