Recently, I worked full-time as a college professor of English Studies. Indeed, I taught and instructed undergraduate students and professional adults in English Language, Composition & Linguistics.
During my employment at The College of The Bahamas, I had achieved the following:
1. accorded superior evaluations for teaching, research and community service
2. published several articles on language & communication
3. produced course booklets and teaching materials as teaching resources
4. facilitated several conferences, seminars and workshops successfully.
5. tutored undergraduates from diverse disciplines in college writing & scholarly research, etc.
I worked full-time as a high school teacher, preparing junior and senior high school students in English Language & Literature for Bahamas Junior Certificate examinations and General Certificate of Education examinations out of London, U.K.
Most significantly, I accomplished the following during my one year of employment as a high school teacher:
1. I was instrumental in the preparation & entry of several students into college level programmes
2. I coached a team of talented students for the National Arts Festival-dance & song
3. I was selected to represent my school as a Language Arts delegate at the National Education Conference held in the capital, Nassau, Bahamas.
I completed an Ontario Colleges Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. The certificate was 340 hours of research, methodology and adult practicum. It leads to TESL Ontario and TESL Canada ESL adult teacher certification.
Completed a major in Applied Linguistics & TESOL with a concentration in Teaching English for Specific Purposes. Obtained all A's and maintained a perfect G.P.A. of 4.0/4.0, plus I received several university awards. One major award was the Best Master's Thesis Award 1993 in my graduating class.
Obtained Secondary Teacher’s Certificate in English Language, Literature & Linguistics at The College of The Bahamas in conjunction with the University of the West Indies, Nassau, Bahamas. I had to complete a 4-month teaching practicum at the college level as well as a formal research project called a long study.
Completed an interdisciplinary major in Liberal Arts Education with a focus on Language, Literature & Linguistics.
