Canar is subsidiary of Etisalat. The company is the second fixed line operator in Sudan. I am the Operation and Maintenance senior engineer and the OMC reports directly to the CTO of the company.
• Participated in initiating and developing the OMC department, this includes hiring technical staff and setting process and procedures for OMC operations.
• Initiated corporate customers support section within the OMC. This section handles all leased lines customers complaints and follows up until resolution.
• Managing support for MPLS customers both L2 and L3.
• Gathering KPIs from all technology department and preparing annual reports to the top management.
• Tracking OPEX against projects current status.
• Focal point for all technology departments as well as other company departments.
• Setting KPIs for the NOC OMC and the corporate customers support and monitoring these KPIs.
• Managing OMC engineers and technicians who monitor a wide range of NMS applications such as Huawei iManager I2000, M2000, N2000, T2000 and other NMS’s.
• Responsible for the 24x7x365 shift allocation and shift schedule
• Leads, defines, and directs the troubleshooting and communication processes to meet SLA’s for monitoring, recovery, escalating, and reporting.
• Making sure that coordination, scheduling and execution of planned outages/ hazardous conditions is done with minimal service degradation.
• Provides professional direction and guidance to OMC staff and evaluates their performance.
• Periodic reporting to the higher management about the operational status.
• Initiated product provisioning procedures and guidelines for the Operations department.
Responsibilities include supporting (level 3 support) the MEA region Wide Area Network which is built-up arround CISCO techno;ogy that constitutes a wide range of CISCO Routers, extending from 800 series up to 7200 series.
Configuring CISCO Routers for different networks technologies that include Leased Lines, Frame-Relay, ISDN and Channelised E1, T1, and VSAT with overlooking an yearly cost of over $ 6 Millions.
Monitoring network performance and bandwidth utilization, in addition to maitaining an updated Database for the MEA region.
Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of the CISCO Routers and CISCO Catalyst Switches for both LAN and WAN connectivity.
Design and implementation of the sites cabling system which includes unshielded twisted pair (CAT 5E UTP) as well as high speed Fiber Backbones.
Design of LAN and WAN infrastructure as well as implementation and testing to make sure of the proper network segmentation and congestion free environment.
Overall network performance monitoring, in addition to team leading and work distribution among the team for the site installations and implementations.
Administration, installation and configuration of Windows NT 4 Server .
Looking after the connectivity of the Bank’s branches to the headquarters Mainframe through SNA gateway, CISCO Routers and Leased Lines.
Supporting users at both the regional office as well as branches and resolving access problems to available resources.
Follow up with the Saudi Telecommunications Company to resolve connectivity problems for the Bank’s WAN.
