My role involves working on projects from commencement to completion, with responsibilities including checking tender drawings against construction drawings, executing variations and ensure design is practical and achievable, proposals for value Engineering and identify best practice and resources required for the project, procurement of sub-contracts and plant to specification and design requirements for the project at the most competitive rates.
Assist the Project Manager and the team with the day to day running of the project and to develop programme of works, manage the smooth running of the project within budget and ensure the project is completed on time and commissioned to clients’ requirements, as well as attending regular site and client meetings.
My duties relating to Testing and Commissioning but not limited to these were as detailed below;
1. Ensuring that the areas/services pre-programmed for hand-over were completed and tested and all documentation completed prior to offering the client or his representative for witness testing.
2. Checking the test results making sure that they are within the design parameters and completing the documentation.
3. Preparing a short term witness testing program in line with the clients availability or any windows of opportunities
4. Supervising teams of up to 3 - 4 site testers insuring that they are working towards the pre-planned commissioning program and meeting the targets.
5. Ensure any defects or faults identified during the testing and commissioning are being rectified by the installation team prior to retesting and preparing for witness testing by the client.
6. Liaise with specialist installation subcontractors (i.e. Fire alarm systems, Nurse call systems, CCTV, Security systems, Motor control panels, Generators, LV Switchgear, etc) and ensure that there systems have been pre-commissioned and working prior to offering it to the client.
7. Be in attendance during witness testing with the client or his representatives.
8. Hands on testing and commissioning of installations and systems as required.
9. Direct liaison with the client on interface of existing services to be integrated with the new installations with minimal disruption and down-time.
10. Carry out training and familiarisation of new installations and systems installed to the client and the maintenance department at a pre-handover training session.
Day to day running of the Business, and providing Technical Best Engineering practices to be deployed on the Contracts being executed and ensuring commercially viable.
