I headed the Guarantees department at the Centralized processing hub of the bank in Karachi. My work description;
* Stake holder management with corporate customers, business unit, regulators and liaison with Financial Institutions regarding guarantees business, technical advice related to risk and operational matters.
* Authorization, scrutiny and vetting of guarantees for issuance.
* People Management and their professional development.
* Maintenance of watertight controls related to compliance and adherence to bank's policies with special focus on risk mitigation.
* Reingeenering of existing processes for reduced turn around times, better controls and cost efficency.
* Building Operational Leadersip Development in the department and Lead for Performance.
I joined Standard Chartered Bank in October 2005, as a Team Leader in Trade Services Department and eventually got elevated to Unit Manager of all upcountry spokes of trade services department. My job was as under;
* To maintain and supervise operational discipline in all trade services stations/spokes.
* Build a strong working relationship with customers, regulators and business units.
* Provide Trade counseling to all internal and external customers.
* Ensure smooth coordination between Spokes and Hub.
* Handling of all sensitive trade queries/ transactions related to Exports/ Imports and Guarantees.
* Structuring of Trade Transactions as per customer needs, business and operational requirements.
* To maintain team motivation through recognition and support .
I joined Union Bank Limited as a Management Trainee and obtained a six months bank training from the Bank's Academy. I worked in all areas of the bank during my ten years of service with it. During this period i got a comprehensive four years experience of General Banking and six years experience of Foreign Trade. My final Role was Operations Supervisor in Trade Services when i left the bank for Standard Chartered Bank Plc in September 2005 .
