Currently Employed as Project Lead / DBA consultant for GE Health Care in Mahindra Satyam Ltd. Provide offshore DBA Support to GE Healthcare WI, USA. Team manages around (200+) databases on different platforms remotely 24/7.
Carry out all DBA duties, including application and database design, tuning; administration of production instances for live Oracle systems; Oracle upgrades and patches for 9.2.0.* on Sun Solaris and 10g, 11g on Red Hat Linux.
Joint Tech Lead (in a team of 9) for registering 120+ databases with OID as part of a drive to provide more security for databases.
Lead role on Proof of Concept exercise to co-ordinate, verify, test and apply the CPU/PSU patches for all 10g and 11g databases released by Oracle every quarter to ASM/CRS and RDBMS homes for 40+ nodes.
Develop a detailed database security process and related documentation to improve the security of new Oracle system deployments.
Mentor client and company employees with in-house training presentations on new features and prepare Sop’s and knowledge base documents.
Evaluation of existing backup and recovery procedures, recommending and implementing improvements
Oracle installations and database creations (9i, 10g) on both Unix and Linux (Redhat), upgrades and database cloning.
Onsite tenure 5 months : Nov’06 to Feb ’07 and Apr ’11 - May ‘11
During my onsite term in GE HealthCare, WI., USA. I was actively involved in coordinating and supporting server and database management tasks such as:
Configure Linux servers with proper parameters with help of Server team.
Work and support DR switchover by configuring Standby and Primary databases.
Migrate databases from a single node Sun Solaris environment to multi-node 10G RAC Linux environment
Perform DB administrative tasks in support of applications like:
• Oracle installations and database creations (9i, 10g) on both Unix and Linux (Redhat), upgrades and database cloning
• Create 9i, 10g databases, Change character sets if required; establish a suitable Oracle Database migration exercise from Unix to Linux, from single instance to RAC
• Maintain backup and recovery strategies and also Perform SQL tuning and instance tuning.
• Tuning: I/O, memory usage, database init & configuration parameters; etc.
• Established security via users and roles, clean up activities
• Perform refreshes via TTS, export/import from a non-rac database to a rac database and vice-versa and other project-orientated tasks
• Reporting on historical data archived in production databases
• Manage routine database jobs/alerts via Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) including RMAN jobs
• Monitoring and maintaining CRON jobs and shell scripts.
• Assist developers and technical consultants with relational database design and creation of database objects tablespaces, tables, indexes, views
• Moving Data between Database using utilities like Export/Import, Sql * Loader and Transportable tablespace as per user request.
• Planning and performing online as well as offline backups.
• Support Tuning tests carried out by Application teams and monitor database health.
