• Provides the necessary advise to the Site Manager on site health and safety issues
• Monitors compliance to the company HSMS by conducting regular inspections and internal auditing of site activities.
• Monitor compliance with established site safety rules
• Undertakes a minimum a weekly inspection and prepares a report for submittal and review with the site manager.
• Conduct a daily tour of the working areas and log details of the observations on the daily observation register. Unsafe conditions and unsafe acts are to be reported immediately.
Raise near miss /incident reports when highlighted
• Report immediately to the Site Manager any serious safety breaches that places workers in life threatening situations.
• Assist the site Manager & supervisor in undertaking risk assessments and identifying safe systems of work to be recorded in safe work method statements.
• Develop and deliver internal training courses on health and safety topics to the site team.
• Carrying out site safety inductions .
• Undertake a weekly Tool box talk with site assigned personnel and ensure that records are maintained of the talks
• Assist industrial supervisors in delivering pre task briefing to the workforce on the control measures identified in risk assessments and the safe system of work to be adhered to
• Assist the manager in the development of safety procedures for high risk activities and assist in briefing of the workforce on their responsibilities under these procedures. Audit against these procedures regularly and report any non compliance to the site manager
• Audit the registers and permit systems maintained for lifting equipment, lifting accessories, hot works, lock out /tag out., etc
• Performing root cause analysis, Producing risk assessments for incident/accident investigations & Maintaining proper records.
• Keeping up to date with all new legislation & development in H&S and advising the business of any changes.
