Financial consultant on a self-employment contract basis for companies and group of companies in a variety of industries. Provide consultancies and advice regarding accounting and financial systems, internal controls, implementation and utilization of budgets, preparation of management reports and interpretation of financial information. Provide lectures and training for accounting and finance employees. In this reference and during my overall experience, I have managed and supervised accounting and finance personnel in the performace of their overall daily functions, duties and responsibilities.
I have worked on a consultancy and on contract basis mainly with companies in the construction, marine transportation, retail in addition to other industries listed below in the frame work of my previous experience.
The principal owns a number of companies located in a number of Arab countries as well as in Lebanon. Was employed to restructure the accounting and the financial functions of the international operations, to centralize financial control in Lebanon and to insure reliable and timely financial information from all international sister companies:
1- Worked on centralizing the overall accounting and financial control function of international operations in Lebanon.
2- Restructured the accounting and financial system of the Egyptian sister company & participated in restructuring the organization chart.
3- Reevaluated prior years operations & financials (as well as inventory) of the Egyptian sister company to insure proper implementation and reliance on the new accounting system.
The regular operations of the 2 companies listed below (previous employment) stopped in 2001, but were not liquidated. I continued to be the financial controller for both companies while I assumed my new duties with AAIG & the Private Office (above) in Abu Dhabi. AAIG (new employer) was the chairman of the board of the 2 companies. AAIG recruited me to my new position with them in Abu Dhabi.
The Group belongs to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Group consists of Al Ain International Group LLC (AAIG) as the holding company. The 2 main subsidiaries are Seba Real Estate LLC (holding company of the real estate operations), and Al Bateen Investment LLC (holds & operates local and international investments). The holding company owns a number of other companies and special purpose vehicles. The investments of Al Bateen are in equity holdings and fully owned subsidiaries located in the UAE and the GCC region. International investments are held and operated in other Middle Eastern countries, Africa, Europe, Asia, Pacific Rim and the USA. The company’s investment portfolio is primarily in the banking, oil & gas, telecommunication, entertainment, textiles and real estate industries among others. The company also holds a substantial portfolio of shares held only for trading.
1- Restructured the accounting department & initiated the finance department.
2- Was in full charge of the Group’s accounting and finance departments.
3- Implemented a new accounting and financial information system.
4- Designed and implemented a new management information system.
5- Implemented procedures for timely preparation of financial reports.
6- Initiated and implemented the use of cash budgets & operational budgets.

8- Implemented procedures for daily reporting of stock market performance & portfolio evaluation of shares held for trading.

11- Managed financial facilities & relationships with financial institutions.

13- Managed equity holdings and the investment portfolio.

18- Represented the group on the board of directors of some of its investments.
While holding the above duties with AAIG, I functioned as a financial controller for The Private Office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Duties & responsibilities were as follows:
1- Restructured the accounting department of The Private Office.
2- Initiated the finance department of The Private Office.
3- Initiated and implemented a new management information system.
4- Initiated and implemented the use of cash budgets & operational budgets.
5- Prepared the financial statements & budgets of The Private Office.
6- Reviewed and improved internal controls and procedures.
7- Initiated and implemented internal & external financial audits.
8- Managed cash resources.
9- Participated in assessments of human resources & restructuring of the organization chart.
Was also in charge of the same duties & responsibilities as those in The Private Office. Accordingly, I performed & accomplished the expected results.
The company is a holding company that held equity investments. It mainly held a substantial holding in Banque Libanaise Pour Le Commerce (a Lebanese Bank):
1- Founded the accounting department of the company.
2- In charge of the full accounting & financial functions.
3- Initiated and implemented the use of cash budgets & operational budgets.
4- Worked with the research department on evaluations of potential investments.
5- In charge of shareholders relationship as it related to all financial matters.
Subsidiary of Ark Financial Group (AFG). Assumed the same responsibilities as in AFG.
MedNet is a group of 5 companies in the health care industry. After immigrating 22 years in the USA, I accepted this position to familiarize myself with the business environment in Lebanon after the 20 years of civil war. I established contacts, learnt the tax code and the social security law among other continuing educational topics.
1- Was in charge of 6 accountants. Responsible for all general accounts transactions
The company is in the entertainment business. Was a shareholder of 5% interest and was one of the founding shareholders of the company. The establishment is a huge entertainment center catered to adults and families and consists of a big billiard facilities and a 5 star restaurant. The operation is in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is doing business as “Magoo’s” (a very famous establishment in Tulsa).
1- In charge of the accounting & the financial functions & all other issues related to the assistance of the general manager in all of his duties and responsibilities.
Owned & operated an accounting & a tax practice. Maintained books & records for a large number of private, partnerships & corporate clients. Provided these services:
1- Prepared periodical financial statements and budgets, payroll, payroll tax filing, starting up of new businesses, internal controls consultations, tax planning, problem resolution with the Internal Revenue Service and tax preparation service for individual, partnership & corporate clients.
Owned and operated a successful restaurant in the Tulsa area. Managed a number of employees including the operations manager. Sold the business in 1994.
A non-profit organization which operates child welfare programs and an outdoor musical play (Discovery land) in the summer of every year in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
1- Responsible for the overall accounting function.
Through out my employment, I gave part-time courses on an average of 2 courses per semester in the areas of accounting, auditing, taxation and business administration.
A big 4 public accounting firm.
1- Performed audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements of partnerships, closely held corporations and publicly traded corporations.
2- Audited companies in the banking, saving & loans, oil & gas, communications, retail industries as well as audited governmental organizations.
3- Performed studies and analysis of internal control systems, drafted letters of recommendations and drafted financial statements and its related footnotes.
4- Participated in a number of seminars and training sessions.
Performed audits to companies in the investment and the construction industries
I worked and assisted professors in the following duties and responsibilities:
1- Assisted professors to prepare lectures and exercises.
2- Assisted professors to prepare testes and exams. Graded tests and exams.
3- Covered for absent professors and gave lectures as a substitute.
4- Conducted accounting laboratories to assist students to better understand business and accounting.
