In the Learning, Skills & Assessment team at Silatech, I am in charge of several region-wide projects that foucsed on content development and acquisition. The aim was to contribute to addressing the skills gap in the region by providing Arab youth with vocational skills that are valuable for employers. I have worked to create and maintain several valuable partnerships for the organization and have been the focal point for innovative tech-based content development.
As part of the employability team at Silatech, I focused on developing and supporting programs and initiatives relevant for Arab youth. The main outcome of my contribution was the regional employability portal, Ta3mal, in which I was involved from the start and contributed greatly to content and functionality of the site. Ta3mal has now grown to cover several countries across the region. In addition, I worked on developing partnerships for a virtual work initiative aimed at enabling young skilled Arabs to work and be compensated on virtual marketplaces such as Elance and oDesk.
In my capacity as Communications Specialist at ictQATAR, I focused on supporting ictQATAR's programs and creating content and materials for the websites. Additionally, I contributed to the Digital Qatar blog where I wrote in both Arabic and English on tech and society. I also managed the organization's daily newsletter, finding and curating content that was circulated to everyone on a daily basis.
My main tasks were to provide support to the Research Coordinator and the research team working at Qatar Foundation. I cannot disclose details around the project. I supported the research team by creating and introducing tools and solutions to facilitate team work among a diverse and geographically spread out group of professors and research assistants.
My responsibilities with ADF focused on translating and creating Arabic content for the foundation. The type of content ranged between news articles, newsletters, and annual reports. In my tenure at ADF, I translated vast amounts of content with high quality, while learning about the ADF"s work in the region.
During my time as a student at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, I worked at the User Support Unit where my daily tasks included troubleshooting various devices for Georgetown students, staff, and faculty. Although student jobs generally rotate quickly and have a high turn over, I worked at User Support for several years continuously, due to my passion for technology and the unit's appreciation of the consistently good quality of work.
This is an online bootcamp full-stack web-development program. I am learning HTML, CSS, and Ruby on Rails.
