Program Officer at Silatech

In the Learning, Skills & Assessment team at Silatech, I am in charge of several region-wide projects that foucsed on content development and acquisition. The aim was to contribute to addressing the skills gap in the region by providing Arab youth with vocational skills that are valuable for employers. I have worked to create and maintain several valuable partnerships for the organization and have been the focal point for innovative tech-based content development.

Program Officer - Employability at Silatech

As part of the employability team at Silatech, I focused on developing and supporting programs and initiatives relevant for Arab youth. The main outcome of my contribution was the regional employability portal, Ta3mal, in which I was involved from the start and contributed greatly to content and functionality of the site. Ta3mal has now grown to cover several countries across the region. In addition, I worked on developing partnerships for a virtual work initiative aimed at enabling young skilled Arabs to work and be compensated on virtual marketplaces such as Elance and oDesk.

In my capacity as Communications Specialist at ictQATAR, I focused on supporting ictQATAR's programs and creating content and materials for the websites. I also managed the organization's daily newsletter, finding and curating content that was circulated to everyone on a daily basis.

During my time as a student at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, I worked at the User Support Unit where my daily tasks included troubleshooting various devices for Georgetown students, staff, and faculty. Although student jobs generally rotate quickly and have a high turn over, I worked at User Support for several years continuously, due to my passion for technology and the unit's appreciation of the consistently good quality of work.
