As a Senior business consultant at my current company following are the sectors I look into to ensure private sector development in those sector. A growth of private sector, specially small and medium enterprises (SME) in targeted sectors can create job opportunity for unprivileged poor and also boost the macro-economic scenario of Bangladesh. Katalyst is directly implemented under the Ministry of Commerce in Bangladesh
Assigned portfolio sectors:
a. Agro-produces packaging services sector,
b. Rural supply chain integration sector
Job Responsibilities:
• In assign sectors, I work with a team of business consultants and lead overall supervision of the project activities with each sector team.
• Develop comprehensive sector strategy for targeted sectors, by reviewing constraints in the economy, assessing private sectors, i.e., multinationals, large local businesses, infrastructure and support services providers, bank and other related service providers, and appraising government policies.
• Design and develop specific interventions/projects according to strategic priorities of the organization, with consideration on potential scalability and sustainability of the intended services through private sector investment.
• Negotiate partnership deals with relevant businesses that work and serve similar target groups as Katalyst does, but only with profit-making incentives. Work with rural farmer groups and local government authorities that lead farmers and rural enterprises through cooperatives and other government initiatives.
• Select partners for implementation of the project through rigorous technical and financial analysis. Negotiate cost-sharing mode with partners and develop log frames for showing project achievement path.
• Coordinate and supervise project activities from Katalyst end, maintain communication with project partners, lead the financial and technical reporting process, and arrange third party audits to monitor project results.
