Presently working as Shift Charge Engineer with ESBI Contracting Limited since September 97- Present at Uch Power Plant, Dera Murad Jamali.

Uch Power Plant is a 586 MW Combined Cycle gas turbine power plant having 3 x126 MW GE Frame 9 Gas turbines Ms 9001 and one GE steam turbine having capacity of 196 MW.
I have actively participated in the commissioning of Uch power plant, from start-ups to shutdowns, preparation of punch lists, all tests, including aceptance tests. I had worked on various other acitivities of commissioning.
Duties include:
. Being qualified as Senior Authorized and Competent person, can prepare, issue, transfer and cancel the safety documents and do the isolations and de-isolations of all plant equipment including switching of 220 kV / 6.3 kV/400V systems.
.Performing all types of operations including system alignment, venting, filling and bringing on line for power generation using DCS MAX 1000 and Mark V.
Operating H2 generation plant for the gas turbines and steam turbine cooling
.Supervision of all operations of pre-treatment water system and de-mineralized water system and associated chemical feed systems when chemist is off-duty
Carrying out detailed analysis of generator unit /transmission line trips and preparing event reports
.Participation in testing /commissioning of the plant.
.The identification, prioritization and submission of plant defects, modifications and other work requests using the CMMS.
.Preparation and submission of reports associated with Accidents, Incidents and Near Miss occurrences during the period on shift.
.Within discipline, providing detailed technical and engineering support to the department.
.Preparation of record sheets relating to designated plant areas and responsibilities.
.Co-ordination with NPCC and OGDCL for load management and gas supply requirements respectively in accordance with Operating procedures. Management of shift staff

Steam Turbine Generator Operator at Saudi Royal Commission For Jubai & Yanbu

Worked in Saudi Arabia for Saudi Royal Commission in their Power and Desalination water Complex at Yanbu-al-sinaiyah as Steam turbine operator From 1993 to 1997.

Power and water desalination has total electric power capacity of 961Mw. It was consist of Three Mitsubishi steam turbine units 127 Mw each, eight Hitachi gas turbines 60 Mw Each, Four emergency (back-up), Hitachi gas turbines 25 Mw each, nine water desalination units Four Heat recovery steam generators (Exhaust of two gas turbines goes to Inlet of one HRSG), and three Mitsubishi oil/gas fired forced circulated boilers 410 tons/hr steam
Job Functions:
Basically I was steam turbine operator, but on many occasions I worked as control room operator as well as boiler operator.
At steam turbine generator:
Taking readings, maintaining logs, performing routine tests, and change over of the equipment during normal operation and shut down on the all of turbine and generator auxilairies
2. During start-up I was responsible of warming up the turbine and rolling the turbine.
3. Routine and weekly tests:
Ø Over speed mechanism trip test (oil pressure).
Ø Thrust bearing wear trip test.
Ø Auto cut in test of AC auxiliary lube oil pump and DC lube oil pump.
Ø Valve freedom test of extraction steam check calves, main stop/control valves.
Ø Weekly change over of equipment.
4. Performing tag out procedures.

(b) In control room:
Ø On some occasions I used to synchronize the unit.
Ø Many times I started various equipment from control room.
Ø I operate control valves.
Ø During some emergencies I helped control room operator.

Special assignment:
I prepared about 200 + flow diagrams, some of those with color coding, and a basic Power plant book covering all systems of a conventional power plant for training Center for the Saudization Program.

Power Plant Operator at Pakistan Atomic Energy Commssion

. Worked in Karachi Nuclear Power Plant as all-round operator from 1987 to 1993.
Karachi Nuclear Power Plant is based on CANDU reactor system, which utilizes the Uranium oxide as fuel and Heavy water as Moderator. It has capacity of 137 Mw base Load. The reactor is Canadian made. There are six unfired heat exchanger type pressurized boilers made by Babcock and Wilcox company, which produces low temp. And pressure dry saturated steam. The steam drives a 22 stage Hitachi turbine generator.
The control was Bailey system.
I was performing duties at different plant locations on weekly rotation bases e.g. One week in control room and other in turbine auxiliary area. Etc.

Job Functions:
In control room:
Taking readings of different parameters.
Maintaining control room logs.
Acknowledging and resetting alarms.
Taking various plant status print outs.
Maintaining boiler and tank levels in emergencies.
Carried out various ON/OFF operations.
Synchronizing of unit.
At turbine generator:
Start-up of turbine: warm-up and speeding up.
Observations of turbine generator and its uxiliaries.
At plant auxiliary area:
Taking readings maintaining logs and observing the following systems:
Compressed air system.
Chillers.
Process water system
Boiler feed water system.
Condensate system.
Heater drain system.
Boiler sampling and blow down system.
Demin. Water system.
Chemical injection system Ø
Process salt water system.
Intake salt water Cleaning and chlorinating system.
At reactor area:
Taking readings maintaining logs and observing the following systems:
Reactor ventilation system.
Waste recovery and neutralization system. Etc.
Special and routine jobs:
Performing fire drill.
Change over of different equipment.
Performing tag out procedure.
Weekly tests run of Emergency diesel generator
