The role accounts for delivering inputs to urban planning and
infrastructure design through GIS and/or CAD data.
Typical functions are:
• Gather resources for GIS data analyze and extract inputs for planning and design team.
• Producing geometric calculations and outputs from gathered data as required for various design initiatives.
• Coordinating with CAD production teams, who work from multiple office locations, for design drawings at
various stages and implementing regional CAD standards for all disciplines.
• GIS and CAD data maintenance using ProjectWise as the centralized file management system.
Defining CAD methodologies, overseeing interoperability issues with other CAD formats and GIS.
• Responsible for generating Land Use plan, Road/Architectural/Utility layouts, sections & detail design
drawings as deliverables.
• Coordinating with client and local authority contacts for technical resources.
• Converting CAD files to GIS or efficiently extracting information from CAD sources to generate geo-spatial
data to create planning data, inputs (DTM) for hydrology analysis and infrastructure design criteria.
• Integrating urban planning and infrastructure design data into a consolidated GIS database.
• Assisting in the needs analysis for an EGIS implementation for the client.
• Geo database feature definition and QA.
To handle a team of about 30 CAD staff to deliver CAD/GIS
output for multi discipline engineering tasks.
Also the role required to investigate and conduct
research to locate and obtain existing databases; gather, analyze, and integrate special data and to determine how
best the information can be displayed using GIS. This role involved coordination with engineering staff to ensure
that the most accurate geographic data is made available to design consultants and other team members alike.
Due to economic downturn, the project was postponed and put on hold by the client.

Reporting to the Enterprise Services Manager, prime function is to conduct training sessions for professionals and to provide technical support for CAD/GIS domains. Trainings are based on Bentley/Autodesk Training Catalogs and followed through an interactive schedule. Summary of responsibilities are as follows;

• Handling MicroStation/AutoCAD training sessions for individuals and corporate groups.
• Preparing schedule of system infrastructure for CAD/planning software setup.
• Providing solutions for queries related to DWG/DGN interoperability, equivalent functional methodologies in AutoCAD/MicroStation and product demonstration.

Reporting to the CAD Manager, the main function is to prepare/update design drawings for highways, structures and various infrastructure design projects. Highlights of functions handled were:
• Proposing utility (Gas, Oil, Telephone, Electric & Water) diversions based upon survey data and verifying contractor’s drawings for approval. Interacting with respective authorities for utility data inputs whenever required and checking acquired inputs against survey for inconsistency.
• Identifying suitable corridor path using satellite images & survey information in order to ease long distance road design following predefined design criteria and client requirement.
• Collecting necessary inputs for the preparation of BOQs for tendering and verifying contractors’ final BOQ before award of contract.
• Preparing presentations for design proposals / infrastructure project study reports.
• Played a major role in the preparation of a presentation for the Muscat Municipality depicting future infrastructure development plans, which was presented at the ministerial level in Oman.
• Generated 3D renderings (visualizations using Microstation) for road interchanges, pier column designs, bridges and phases of road projects as and when required.

Work involved registration & conversion of the Moptt Paper Data to Design Data linked to Oracle RDBMS using Bentley Microstation after geo-referencing and later on migrating to Intergraph FRMME environment through customized MDL functions.
