Highlights & Achievements:
- Successfully developed business with 4 cement and chemical plants in the MENA region and performed more than 20 technical assessments for WHR opportunities on various potential projects in the Cement, Steel and Chemical industries in different countries.
- Successfully managed the implementation of a multi-million US$ project considered to be one of the largest carbon reduction projects worldwide and the largest one in Uzbekistan and Central Asia under Kyoto Protocol’s CDM. The project aimed to repair more than 100, 000 leaks on the Ferghana Valley natural gas distribution network (east of Uzbekistan), which intends to save about 83 million m3 of natural gas per year and generate Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) (also called Carbon Credits) equivalent to a GHG (Greenhouse Gas) reduction of about 1.2 million tons of CO2-equivalent per year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out business development activities to promote energy efficiency solutions (Waste Heat Recovery, Waste Gas Recovery, open cycle to combined cycle conversion) in the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia, and Eastern Europe within the Cement, Iron & Steel, Power and Chemical sectors.
- Collecting technical data, using simulation software to model the proposed power plants, and carrying out several onsite feasibility studies and technical assessments.
- Project manager of 3 approved projects during the development phase (feasibility studies, conceptual design, contractor tendering, permitting) and the implementation phase (procurement, construction, commissioning, etc.).
- Developing an HSE management system for the company and overseeing the HSE requirements and performance during project development and implementation.
Highlights & Achievements:
- Successfully managed the development of the Ferghana gas leak reduction project (Uzbekistan) from the feasibility study stage until investment approval and the successful CDM registration by the United Nations.
- Participated in defining the climate change policy of the UAE and contributed in submissions to the UNFCCC.

- Prepared the first comprehensive and up-to-date HSE regulation/legislation database in Algeria.

- Participated in writing several new regulations related to the construction, the operation and the decommissioning of Oil and Gas facilities in Algeria.

- Developing HSE regulations/standards in the Oil and Gas sector, including inter-sectorial coordination.
- Carrying out governmental HSE audits/inspections and risk assessments over the entire Oil and Gas chain.

- Was Sonatrach’s and the Energy Ministry’s Climate Change and CDM focal point for three years.
- Sonatrach’s Local Project Manager of the Global Gas Flare Reduction (GGFR) partnership program led by the World Bank (building CDM capacity and identifying CDM flare gas projects).
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing climate change’s policy, defining CDM projects, and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Policy within Sonatrach.
- Developing Sonatrach’s HSE Management System from the early stages of its conception.
- Undertaking risk assessments, hazard identification and mitigation, HSE audits, accidents investigations, etc.
- Identifying and developing gas flaring reduction CDM projects in partnership with the World Bank GGFR.
Highlights & Achievements:
- Developed a project to recover one million tons per year of condensates (C5+) in the Hassi Messaoud Oilfield that led to the reduction of associated gas losses and a quality improvement of 300, 000 bbl/day of crude oil production.
- Operated a five million m3/day gas processing facility for the production of two thousand tons/day LPG, with 40+ staff.
