Robert's full dedication to this project proved most valuable assisting the project leaders of the joint venture (Richard Roger's Partnership/E.Lamela & TPS Consult/Initec) coordinating, assessing and managing the full design process as well as using his bilingual skills in this international project.
Particularly, during the concept adaptation and scheme design stages, undertook design and project management roles dealing initially with mechanical and electrical systems but broadened his experience to include co-ordination of the whole range of professional disciplines, presentations, client liaison and contract supervision (internal and external)
During the detailed design stage of the project he was partly responsible and focused with the multidisciplinary team (25+ people) on the production and translation of deliverables (i.e. drawings CAD14 and calculations CADlink/Cymap), while maintaining team morale in high pressure situations. This included continuous liaison with the Madrid/London Project Leaders for local regulations, standards, programme, architectural changes, client communication, etc. Also managed design subcontractors in UK (DSSR-facade engineering, Arup-Solar Modelling) and Madrid (External Water)
This is the first Airport in Spain designed with "Displacement Ventilation" for the Terminal and Satellite Piers for which CFD Modelling was produced in house and integrated with Halton's Manufacturing. TPS was one of the UK Consultancies pioneering large scale drawing production in India (approx. 70% of over 860 No Autocad drawings)
