In the capacity of Assistant Manager, I have been responsible for managing large teams through the planning, execution and conclusion stages of internal audit, pre-award assessment, consulting and various other special nature engagements.
Being a Financial Advisor to the UNICEF and Ministry of Education in respect of implementation of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE)-Afghanistan program, my responsibilities include:
• Review the control environment of Ministry of Education and design the funding modality of the GPE program.;
• Review the MoE Planning Department’s outputs including Financial Planning and its supporting cash flow forecast, procurement forecast, together with the supporting with budgetary control and analysis;
• Support the MoE’s Department of Administration and Finance in the preparation of Ministry’s Financial and Programmatic Report supported by national data, together with necessary analysis;
• Oversee and coordinate programmatic and financial management of the grant and manage the field monitoring team during the visits to provincial sites to supervise the MoE activities supported by the GPE grant;
• Assess the programmatic impact and oversee the appropriateness and the accuracy of methods used to verify progress and the results; and ensure/oversee timely preparation and submission of financial and narrative reports to the GPE, LEG, UNICEF and other stakeholders; and
• Review, evaluate and conclude the work performed by the engagement team including:
i. Diagnostic Review of MoE for implementation of GPE program;
ii. Progress update (both Financial and Programmatic) Review; and
iii. Budget and Disbursement Request Review.
In the capacity of supervisor and senior supervisor I lead large teams through the planning, execution and conclusion stages of statutory audits, internal audit, agreed upon procedures and various other special nature engagements. My responsibilities included:
- Planning, Supervising, coordinating and appraising work of statutory audits, internal audit, agreed upon procedures and various other special nature engagements and drafting the reports and management letter thereof highlighting internal control weaknesses and the risks involved, business improvement points and suggestions; and
- Evaluating internal control systems, identifying control weaknesses and making appropriate recommendations to the management.
The experience at the Audit and Assurance Services section of the firm has enabled me to develop an understanding of the regulatory environments of diversified industries, key business processes and the accounting and internal control systems of several organizations. I lead large teams through the planning, execution and conclusion stages of statutory audits and other varied special nature engagements. My responsibilities included
- Engagement planning, and supervision;
- Managing client relationship;
- Coordinating with professionals of various fields like legal, actuarial and IT experts and decision-making for resolution of critical reportable matters
- Assisting clients in preparation of financial statements in accordance with the financial reporting framework applicable in Pakistan, which includes compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards, local corporate laws and directives of regulatory authorities;
- Drafting reports and management letters highlighting internal control weaknesses and the risks involved, business improvement points and suggestions;
- Supervising, coordinating and appraising work of support staff and ensuring that audit objectives are efficiently achieved within the agreed time-scales;
- Executing audit procedures (including analytical review procedures) in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing; and
- Evaluating internal control systems, identifying control weaknesses and making appropriate recommendations to the management.
I am ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales)-Finalist. I have left just two advance level papers and a case study which is expected to be completed during 2015.
I am ACCA (Associate Chartered Certified Accountant)-Member. The selected pattern of professional has equipped me with in-depth knowledge of accounting, finance, and business issues as well as helping me to learn continuously for ongoing changes and issues within the global financial world. Further, I was awarded a “Certificate of Achievement in Financial Accounting” from ACCA
