As a Senior Inspector of Naval Armament
• Ensure QA of state of the art Brahmos Missile & other underwater Missiles systems, currently positioned at Brahmos Aerospace Trivandrum Limited as resident QA manager for Indian Navy(MSQAA) .
• Member of Weapons Procurement Committee. Rigorously pursued indigenisation efforts to overcome critical shortages of weapon spares. Identified&prepared specifications/drawings and outsourced production of critical imported spares to various SMEs and provided QA support.
• Deputed to ITALY in May 2011 for conduct of Pre-Delivery Acceptance testing of new state of the art C-303 underwater Decoy system at OEM premises(WASS Italy).
• In-charge of Quality control activities at Weapon Preparation and Repair Workshops. Responsible for safety during Surveillance Inspection, Breakdown and Disposal of Explosives.
• Perform quality inspection on missiles, torpedoes, gun ammunition, and pyrotechniques and allot the same to various departments of the Indian Navy
• Use modern techniques like FRACAS, RCA, Taproot etc. to carry out root cause analysis and perform failure investigation
• Carry out vendor correspondence, prepare reports, accept material from suppliers, and examine failure of weapon operations
Human Resource Management and General Administration
As administrative officer of Unit / Defence Civillian Establishment, responsible for:-
• Manpower planning based on future induction of stores by factoring in the complexity involved in carrying out Testing and Inspection, man hour rates vis-a-vis the job specifications and at the same time complying with current government orders.
• Member of Recruitment Board for Recruitment of Defence Civilians and administered entire recruitment process.
• Revenue procurement activities.
• Payroll administration, handling legal/disciplinary cases and physical security of assets.
• Infrastructure development and Quality of work life improvement initiatives.
• Team Building to inculcate high morale and discipline in over 100 personnel and motivated them to achieve projected targets in time bound manner.
• QA Management Responsibilities
o Inspect associated aerospace/underwater systems/subsystems test measurement diagnostic equipment
o Liasoning with Indigenous sources include Ordnance Factories(Manufacturing weapons), DRDO (developing weapons), various other firms such as Brahmos and Keltron
o Well versed in Quality management, operations management, Root Cause Analysis and project management
o Monitor the weapon performance from inception to disposal of weapons
o Administer development of aerospace/underwater systems as per the prescribed industrial standards, such as ISO 9001, AS 9100.
• Taught computer hardware maintenance course that included topics like applied electronics, computer hardware maintenance, microprocessor (8086), microcontrollers (8051), etc. to a class of 60 students
• Created curriculum, Setting up of exam question papers for university exams, and mentoring and moulding students
