Pre-commissioning, commissioning & start-up in Instrumentation

JOB RESPONSEBILITY: Supervises a team and witness and monitor for all Pre-commissioning &Commissioning and start-up activity, these activities are completed in accordance with agreed codes / standards/ procedures.
Fully responsible to assure that all checks and tests are performed successfully (punch list cleared following EPCC contractual requirements),

• Loop checking for each standalone instrument and control loop,
• Calibration of alarms and providing preliminary set points,
• Calibration and functionality checks for all trip settings,
• Functionality checks for the fire and gas system,
• Functionality checks for all instruments in each control loop,
• Functionality checks for all interlocking systems,
• Functionality checks for emergency shutdown systems.


Coordinates the all activities - commissioning, start-up including issuing work permits for commissioning activities. Ensures that all necessary tests on instrumentation and control equipment and systems are performed prior ready for start-up and Gas-in.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Participates in the pre-commissioning activities. Participates in the factory acceptance tests (FATs), Site Acceptance (SATSs). Reviews operational Test procedures (OTPs) and participates in these tests along with the EPC Contractor/ Vendors commissioning Team.

• Supervision of project instrumentation construction works, which includes, Instrument installations, inspection and testing.
• Day to day site surveillance visit to monitor ongoing activities of Cable Trays, Cable laying, Embedded Conduits, duct bank, exposed conduits, control panels, Junction Box, local stations, Marshalling Cabinets, instruments, Pneumatic Tubing, Impulse Lines and process hook-up.
• Responsible for that contractor comply with all aspects of the Worksite HSE Plan and policy; site regulations, permit to work and Client requirements.
• Maintain daily supervisory surveillance checks and records ensuring that contractor’s management and supervision are providing safe working conditions and permitting procedures, all required competent personnel, protective equipment, adequate supervision and manpower, with reliable, well maintained equipment to execute the contracted works as per contract schedule and targets.
• Ensure the instrument works complied with project specifications, company procedures, method statements, quality assurance and control documents.
• Ensure proper change control by issuing Field Instructions for all changes, reviewing Technical Queries to ensure responses are appropriate and practical and reviewing Advanced Revision notices prior to issue to contractors to ensure correct use of construction resources.
• Ensure contractors dimensional control methods for checking that the works are properly set out. Supervise specialist surveying contractors where necessary.
• Ensure practical security and protection of the works and that all contractors’ provisions for temporary plant are fit for purpose.
• Coordinated that all construction materials, embedded items, special fixtures are approved for use and that they are stored, protected and available to workface locations as required.
• Agree method statements and JHA's. Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the agreed method statement

• Test, calibrate and reinstall repaired electronic and pneumatic instruments ensuring accuracy of
operation and recording of data, both within a system or circuit, and in synchronization with others.

• Carried out preventive and routine maintenance schedules on all units as instructed by the Engineer and in accordance with maintenance procedures.

• Advise Engineer of requirements for spare parts, materials or tools as necessary.
• All maintenance records are completed including work orders, work reports and the maintenance log describing the fault, time, labour and materials used and the recorded values.

• Assisted process crew for start up and shutdown activities.

• Involved in modification in the control logics necessary safe operation of the equipment
