Responsible for the overall design and integration of the Topside, Hull, Marine and Accommodation Systems of the major FPSO Projects . Project Engineering Manager of major FPSO Projects with focus on design activities from concept through detailed design and follow on engineering at Shipyards during the construction/conversion phase of FPSO. Also undertook additional role of Functional Engineering Manager of Engineering unit of Bumi Armada, assisting VP ( Engineering & Technology ) with portfolio engineering management, Engineering KPI definition, Engineering resources work load planning, Engineering step change and future engineering execution strategies, development of Standard Engineering Management quality procedures and collaborated with Senior Management in developing Engineering execution strategies for future Projects .

As Project Engineering Manager ( PEM ) of Kraken FPSO responsible for leading engineering activities encompassing Topsides, Hull and Marine, Turret WBS for all Phases including Pre Contract FEED Phase, Detail Design and Follow on and Completion Engineering, facilitating seamless transfer of Engineering to the Fabrication Yard . Kraken FPSO is in Kraken Field which is located in UKCS block 9/02b, approximately 400 km north east of Aberdeen, in a nominal water depth of 116 m. As PEM of Kraken Project involved from Pre Contract FEED and Design competition Phase, through Detail Design, Follow on till Completion Engineering. Responsibility includes leading selection process, scope definition of Engineering Sub Contractors, monitoring and control of Engineering Sub Contractors. As one of the key members of the Change Control Team actively involved in the Project Management of Change processes. On exit of Detail Design Phase led Follow up engineering team at site.
As a part of this Follow on Engineering team, Package Engineers deputed to site for smooth integration of various Packages and Equipment with Construction -Commissioning at Construction yard. As a part of Completion Engineering, led resolution of various Technical issues related to sail away and Final Completion at site with multifunctional interfaces with Commissioning, Regulation Compliance, ATEX, Construction & Operation team.
Current Status of the Engineering: Detail Design Phase and Follow on Engineering completed with Sail Away of FPSO from Singapore water in November 2016. IVB (DNV) Design Verification completed and IVB letter of Initial Suitability of Design received. Kraken Safety Case has been accepted by the HSE. A small Engineering team is currently supporting offshore commissioning and Operation team in Aberdeen Office.

Engineering Manager of Proposal Engineering Projects:

Currently leading two large sized FPSO Proposal Engineering .I have led during December 2015 till April 2016, Pre Award FEED and Optimization activities of Petrobras Pre Salt FPSO Project ~ 2200 meter water depth VLCC Vessel with Oil processing capacity of 180, 000 bopd, 212 MMSCFD @ 250 Bar for Gas export and 70 MMSCFD @ 550 Bar for Gas Injection . On re Tendering of Sepia FPSO in October 2016, currently leading Proposal Engineering team to develop technically compliant Bid Engineering deliverables and providing required engineering inputs for costing. Developed Engineering Execution Plan in sync with Project Execution strategy and Engineering Cost basis for execution.
Also currently leading Proposal Engineering of a large FPSO including mooring system for Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), proposed to be located in the deep waters off Eastern coast of India. This Project is first large deep water field development Project of ONGC with Oil processing capacity of 90000 bopd and Gas Production capacity of 220 mmscfd .

Served as a Core Management Team member and Head of the Project Engineering Management Department - PMD, since inception of India Engineering Centre in 2007 to bring it to its present matured stage. PMD, an integrated Department consisting of Project Engineering, Planning, MIS, Quality & DCC Functions, thus responsible for centralized and coordinated management of all projects under its domain through optimization of the use of shared organizational resources across all the Projects. As Portfolio Manager, identifying and developing Project Management methodologies, best practices, Quality procedures, templates and standards. Assisted Management in marketing functions, drawing best Organizational strategies along with the Management. Played a pivotal role in planning, scripting various Quality Procedures, Method Statements, suitable Work processes, and Execution methods during the growth of SHI India Engineering Office. Functioned as Project Engineering Manager of the following Engineering Projects executed by SHI -India Office:

 BG Norge’s Petrojarl Knarr FPSO Topside FEED + Detailed Engineering of Topside & Interfaces Project including Procurement engineering. BG Norge has contracted Teekay Petrojarl to provide an Internal Turret-moored Ship shape FPSO for the Knarr (erstwhile-Jordbaer FPSO) Oil and Gas Field Development in the Norwegian North Sea. The FPSO is located in the Jordbaer Central field, which is approximately 120km west of Floro with water depth of approximately 410 meters.

The New Build FPSO has been constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea as Teekay's EPC Contractor, with a fully built-up project cost of around $1 billion. The facility was delivered on 2014 and is currently producing.

As Topside Engineering Manager involved in Knarr Project since 2010, right from the Pre Contract Pre FEED Design Competition Phase from SHI -India Engineering side. Contract with Teekay was signed upon winning the Design competition in early 2011, amidst stiff Technical Competence Review by the Asset Owner BG Norge.

Concluded Knarr FPSO Topside Engineering Project by leading ‘Project Close out Report’ with benchmarking exercise with respect to Topsides Matrices. Conducted Lessons Learned Workshop.

 Led as Project Manager of Topside Engineering Project for ONGC’s -Sagar Samrat Conversion Project during Project Definition & Planning Phase.
The Project includes conversion of Jack up Drilling Rig to a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU), located in the Mumbai High Field, 140 - 145 km West of Mumbai . The Project was later managed by a dedicated Project Manager reporting to me. Project kicked off from December, 2011.
 Pre Order Basic Engineering / FEED activities including review of Pre FEED for Topside for Western Isles Development - FPSO Project proposed to be located in UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) in the North Sea for DANA Petroleum Incorporated .

 Led as ‘Topside Engineering Manager’ of the ‘Topside Engineering and Interfaces Sub Project’ for Saipem’s ‘Block 4/05 Gimboa FPSO Project.

Gimboa FPSO is a Medium sized Leased FPSO for Offshore Angola, build and Operated by Saipem, with Sonangol as the Asset Owner, designed for 15 years of uninterrupted Operations.

Work Volume: Engineering Multidisciplinary Project with PDS Modeling has total man hour involvement of about 200, 000 engineering man hours (controlling peak strength of 145 in the Gimboa team).

Deputed in Saipem Office Milan, from April, 2006 to June, 2006 as the ‘Topside Engineering Manager’ leading a team of Specialist engineers for the Pre Award FEED activities pertaining to Gimboa - FPSO Topside Project. This Define Phase of the project included FEED preparation/ verification process and ensuring seamless transfer of FEED to Detail Engineering Phase. Partnered with Saipem to optimize their
FEED from the point of view of value engineering. In addition to the functions of the Topside Engineering Manager in Milan, developed Detail engineering Project Schedule (in P3) with about 1000 activities independently, integrating the same with the Master Plan of Gimboa FPSO developed by Saipem, as a Sub Project.

On completion of Topside detail engineering activities, Topsides Engineering Team’s involvement continued till ‘Completion Engineering’ comprising of Field engineering, Pre commissioning -Commissioning support engineering functions. In this capacity, visited Fabrication yards in Dubai on regular basis. (2007).

Principle Responsibilities & Activities performed:

• Leadership of specialist team appointed for the project execution for proper engineering execution and related activities.

• Control of the Document Progress Register (DPR) and Engineering Schedule.
Define Project specific procedures viz. Project plan, Execution Plan, WBS Procedure etc...
• Interface Management and coordination.
• Governance of Critical engineering cycles and associated deliverables.
Support to Fabrication.
• Man-hours expenditure control and limitation within budget.
• Ensure proper coordination with Saipem Engineering Team PSLs and prompt responses to received inputs.
• Administration of Project deliverables through Document Controllers with DOCUMENTUM.
• Leadership in expediting with vendors, external interfaces (Marine, Subsea, and Company) for technical inputs.
• Participate in various Design reviews during different phases of project execution e.g. Model reviews, HAZOP reviews, Quality audits, Lessons learned sessions for Project Close out etc...

 Led FEED activities of Saipem FPSO for Marginal fields (Aquila Fields, in the Mediterranean Sea) with FPSO processing capacity of 18, 000 BOPD. Completion achieved: October 2007.


 From Oct’ 2003 to OCT’ 2005 : Deputed in M/s Samsung Heavy Industries, (SHI) Geoje - Shipyard South Korea as a Team leader of team of 18 Specialist engineers in various disciplines. Responsible to evoke positive images of the parent Company, building up customer relationship, eliciting customer requirement, management of deputation Contract.


In the individual capacity, involved as Deputy PM in the Project Management Team of SHI in the EPC execution of the Topside for Exxon Mobil‘s East Area Project for East Area development in Nigeria as one of the Project Manager of PMT ( Project Management Team), reporting to the Project Director. Involved in the above Topside Project from engineering till Sail away /Final documentation.
