SEHA is the governmental healthcare provider in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. SEHA owns and operates more than 8 hospitals and 60 clinics, and employs 17000+ staff.

SEHA is utilizing a standardized unified Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (Cerner) across the enterprise, on top of which the patient accounting system (Rev Cycle) is built.

I’m working off of the patient accounting system, as a system analyst, and an application specialist, responsible for the development, enhancement, change, and maintenance of the system, as well as its integration with other departments and technologies in finance and health operation.

Additionally, I’m the sole data analyst for the Revenue Cycle Department responsible for enabling KPI controls and strategic planning in financial and operational aspects.


Key projects and implementations:

Revenue Cycle, Cerner
2013-2015
Standardized the revenue cycle management process for 7 hospitals and 45 primary healthcare centers, on a single unified EMR/EHR platform.
Natively integrated with upstream clinical applications.
Automated charge capture, and claim submission.
Customized and localized to support the UAE environment and governance.
Supported the increase in annual revenue from AED 2 Billion to AED 5 Billion
Enhanced and updated continuously to keep up with CDM changes, newly-added contracts, coding updates, and adjudication rules updates.

My direct contributions before, during, and after the implementation included:
Developed and maintained multiple data analytics and KPIs
Delivered continued user education and training on a regular basis in a train-the-trainer model to 50+ trainers.
Worked on the system design to ensure business processes and needs are maintained
Worked on the reporting design to ensure business metrics and KPIs are maintained
Worked on the integration testing and validation procedures
Participated in the go-live activities with contributions to the different teams
Continuously contributing to the post go-live enhancements design, development, and implementation.
Single handedly developed the only available SQL based Business Intelligence tool for Revenue Cycle data housing needs and statistical analysis and KPI reporting.
Developed the only available graphical Dashboard in SEHA for the Revenue Cycle - Denial Management that can be easily associated with data from Oracle, general ledger and other clinical applications.
