I assumed the role of Director of Nurses at a rural hospital. I obtained a plethora of education from this experienc due to the required departments I was in charge of. I was responsible for the nursing staff with scheduling, continuing education requirements, competency testing and daily events. I was also responsible for the Performance Improvement Program, Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical Unit, and Trauma Coordination. I overseen Infection Control and Employee Health. I attended Board Meetings and also assisted with the integration of electronic medical records. I was also in charge of the Emergency Disaster Preparedness Program at our facility.

I was first employed at this facility as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. I obtained my Registered Nurse license after several years of employment. I was immediately promoted to Nursing supervisor and had responsibilities of overseeing Registered nurses, Licensed Vocational nurses as well as nurses aides. I covered the labor and delivery unit, emergency department, assisted in the operating room as a scrub nurse, obtained certification as a Pharmacy Technician and worked in the hospital pharmacy for two years. I supervised the 22 bed medical/surgical unit as well. In 2006 I was promoted to Emergency Department Manager/ Trauma Coordinator. Working in a small community hospital has provided me with a variety of experience.
