started career in IT in 1984, in a telecom company ITI Limited (Computer Division) with Transfer of Technology project with ALCATEL, France.
In 1996 joined IGNOU as Jt Director(Computer Division). Working since September 2000 as the Head(Computer Division)/Director(Computer Division.
The responsibilities are related to all in the field of IT - procurement, installation, training, ERP and Software Development, LAN & WAN/VPN, Campus WiFi, Broadband internet connectivity, Web site Data Centre, for the entire IGNOU locations - at H/Q in New Delhi and across the countries/overseas-as SaaS service provide with more than hundred locations. Also faculty in IT and Management programmes. Nodal officers of the university for Govt.of India projects like Digital India, countrywide connectivity etc.
Born in 1956, as the Head of the Computer Division, he is responsible to get IT infrastructure created for one and all in IGNOU including 63 Regional Centres (approx) and more than 3000 IGNOU Learners Centres across the country and abroad. The activities of the division are related to all for procurement and deployment of IT infrastructure, Networking, Software development, Training, IGNOU Website management and maintaining the entire IT resources with a team of about 35 professionals.
The Division has taken further towards integrated back office automation using ERP modules of Peoplesoft (ORACLE) . A Data Centre has been established with blade servers exclusively for the ERP solution. All deliveries for the learners support through the IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in are from the Division. A full time six month Certificate course on PC Hardware and Networking has also been launched by Computer Division since September 2010. IGNOU site has great potential with all support services in SAAS environment. Services to all at the main campus are through OFC and WiFi terminals fed with 1Gbps NKN and 100Mbps Reliance internet link. The Division has also a certificate course on Hardware and Networking.
A Life Member of the Indian National Science Association, and Sr Member of Computer Society of India (which he was conferred to at the age of 35) Dr Srivastav has participated in numerous seminars and events of international repute and has also edited and reviewed several books and theses. He has served on many committees in central universities, UGC, AICTE, NIOS, DEC, KOU etc. apart from IGNOU.
Presently he is also spearheading the IGOU NKN/NMEICT project for MPLS VPN and actively working for the SAMARTH project of Govt. of Bihar, and IT Mass Literacy program of India, apart from member on AADHAR committee of IGNOU. He is also member of E Learning Sectional committee, Bureau of Indian Standard, India.
He is Founder Secretary, CSI Mankapur Chapter which received the Best Chapter Award in Northern Region during his tenure.
For his contribution in the field, Dr Srivastav received Bharat Excellence Award and Gold Medal from Freindship Forum of India, New Delhi in July 2011.
Academic interest of Dr Srivastav has been right from starting his career in the field. He has been evaluator and examiner for UG/PG/M.Tech/PhD progrmmes, PhD supervisor, and course editor for UG/PG courses. His areas of research interest include Software Engineering and Quality, Analysis/Synthesis of Algorithms, DBMS, and Networking. Apart from the Divisional responsibilities of IT services to IGNOU fraternity, he has also been working as faculty in various capacities including guiding Ph D students and as evaluator for PG and Ph.D. programmes.
Dr Srivastav has presented research papers in countries like France, UK, Switzerland, Germany, Netherland, New Zealand, Singapore, USA and Jamaica, to name a few.
Dr Srivastav worked for PhD in the area of Algorithm synthesis. He analysed almost all the dispatch algorithms and synthesised them mathematically giving way to look algorithms from a different perspective with commonality that 'all of them are to solve the same problem but differently'. With this common definition one can devise more and more algorithms of that family (in this case family of dispatch algorithms). His first paper was published unrevised in Information Processing Letters, North Holland Publication in 1984.
IITK is a premiere institution amongst the top most engineering colleges in India. Master degrees are also offered with very limited seats in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry etc.
University of Gorakhpur in UP (India) has been a prominent university with good syllabus for offering graduate, PG and higher courses.
BSEB (Bihar Secondary Education Board) conducts Standard 10th (earlier it was Matriculation, Std 11th). Further, after Matriculation, he had to compulsorily do Standard 12th which he did in 1975 under UP Board of Higher Secondary Examination system. He passed with 63% (First Division).
