The Egyptian Armed Forces summon Egyptian graduates every year to perform compulsory military service for approximately 14 months and receive acceptable financial compensation. I was fortunate to have participated, over that period, in surveying works for the infrastructure of my military unit, especially the establishment of a new drainage network. Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assist surveyors in conducting surveys related to sewage systems, including pipelines, treatment plants, and drainage networks.
• Participate in the collection of data specific to sewage infrastructure, such as pipe dimensions, manhole locations, and flow rates.
• Accompany surveyors during site visits to sewage facilities.
• Document the condition of sewage structures, identifying any damage, blockages, or maintenance needs.
• Record measurements and observations accurately.
• Transport, set up, and operate surveying equipment relevant to sewage projects (e.g., optical level, total stations, GPS devices).
• Assist in calibrating and maintaining equipment to ensure accurate measurements.
• Help establish boundaries for sewage treatment plants, pump stations, and sewer lines.
• Collaborate with surveyors to determine easements and right-of-way areas for sewage infrastructure.
• Follow safety protocols when working near sewage systems.
• Be aware of environmental regulations and guidelines related to sewage projects.
• Assist in analyzing survey data specific to sewage infrastructure.
• Contribute to the preparation of detailed drawings and reports related to sewage facilities.
