• Investigating incidents, including: injuries, occupational illnesses and high potential near misses, in order to identify the root causes and establish the corrective/preventive actions to be undertaken
• Reporting and reviewing findings from incidents investigations, facilities inspections, site audits/inspections
• Identifying H&S training needs according to risk assessment process results, contractual requirements and local regulations
• Planning, developing, and conducting or coordinating worker health and safety training sessions according to local laws and regulations, covering at least: use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), handling and storage of hazardous materials, lifting& rigging, emergency management etc.
• Promoting workers’ H&S awards and recognition
• Interpreting safety regulations in construction safety and communicating accordingly
• Advising the Project Management Team of any changes to Health & Safety legislation that may have an impact on the project
• Maintaining and building relationships with external organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies and rescue teams, in order to facilitate emergency responses
• Preparing, revising and issuing Health and Safety procedures and instructions in line with those issued by QHSE Corporate
• Recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards
• Carrying out periodical H&S audits of the project/site, ensuring follow-up to effectively close out the corrective/preventative actions
• Inspecting facilities, machineries, equipment, camp, first aid rooms and kitchen in order to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure compliance to safety regulation
• Evaluating the subcontractors’ H&S performances, ensuring the application of penalties in case of H&S violations
• Ensuring the deployment at local level of Corporate H&S Initiatives (Safety Builder Program, Your Lifesaving Rules, etc.)
• Monitoring the project H&S performances, guaranteeing that H&S reports and documents to be sent to the Management and QHSE Department are prepared
• Ensuring that the Corporate H&S database is constantly populated in terms of worked manhours, incidents occurred (type, description, date, time, place, etc.), H&S violations etc.
• Conducting periodical H&S meeting internally (with the Project Manager) and externally (with the Client, the PMC, the Engineer)
• Providing support, for what is relevant to his/her area of responsibility, to the Procurement Department during the bid requests for subcontracts, assessing if the relevant H&S Management System is suitable, for the H&S contractual and company requirements
• Managing the environmental emergency preparedness and response
• Deliver or assist in the delivery of HSE induction to new starters to the project.
• Ensure employees at their area of responsibility have received HSE induction before beginning work.
• Deliver and assist in the delivery of site induction/orientation.
• Deliver localized (site based) training relating to HSE to support the project’s needs.
• Assist in the delivery of project wide training requirements.
• Assist in the production of Method statements (with particular reference to the risk assessment section).
• Responsible for the production of site specific Task Safety Briefing (TSB) - coordinating with construction and engineering in the production of TSB’s.
• Assist in the production and issue of Permit’s to work (PTW)
• Maintain toolbox talk file and update where necessary.
• Review any additional documentation produced to facilitate specific works.
• Deliver and assist in the delivery of briefings.
• Conduct a daily site inspection and complete form.
