Responsibilities:-
Conduct needs assessments for water and sanitation infrastructure, such as latrines, water supply systems, and water treatment units, in targeted areas.
Conduct technical assessments and feasibility surveys for water and sanitation infrastructure in the targeted area.
Assess emergency needs, particularly in the context of hygiene promotion.
Assist the WASH Engineer in inspecting boreholes, shallow wells, water pumps, and other water supply systems to ensure their operational status.
Support partners and communities in identifying their capacity-building needs and facilitate appropriate capacity-building measures, both formal and informal, to enhance local capacity and program sustainability.
Collaborate with the program team to plan, establish, and review all construction and/or rehabilitation activities in the projects, including budgeting, in order to address the needs of the projects and the targeted population.
Ensure community participation in all WASH infrastructure activities.
Coordinate and ensure proper integration of WASH infrastructure activities with local authorities (e.g., LWSC) and stakeholders, including integrating engineering activities with hygiene promotion activities.
Collaborate with local leaders at the community level to identify, mobilize, and sensitize target communities for water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion.
Supervise and conduct regular visits to monitor the progress of ongoing construction and/or rehabilitation work, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budget, and technical specifications, and identifying potential deviations.
Negotiate agreements and obtain necessary permissions for construction/rehabilitation projects, maintaining regular communication with local authorities to ensure all required documentation is completed to prevent delays.
Facilitate the formation and training of Water Supply and Sanitation Committees for established, rehabilitated, or protected water sources.
Conduct regular field visits to supervise all WASH infrastructure activities and ensure the quality of completed infrastructures.
Contribute to the preparation of budgets associated with construction/rehabilitation projects, prepare invoices for payment, and anticipate the cash flow required for monthly payments.
Identify and distribute hand tools, maintenance kits, and water treatment chemicals to targeted communities.
Monitor water quality analyses at the household level and in IDP camps, assessing the effectiveness of home water treatment techniques through residual chlorine and bacteriological analysis.
Supervise the selection of materials, equipment, and resources for public health/hygiene promotion and community participation activities, ensuring suitable technical specifications and quality assurance.
Contribute to the development of culturally appropriate IEC (Information Education and Communication) materials.
Participate in the preparation, planning, and implementation of health and hygiene promotion and community participation activities within the project.
Assist in major repairs and installation of new materials, supplies, machinery, and/or equipment.
Verify contractors' and suppliers' compliance with contract specifications, work plans, and timelines.
Ensure that WASH infrastructure construction and rehabilitation works adhere to Bill of Quantities (BOQs), drawings, and quality standards established by Mercy Corps through quality checklists.
Regularly monitor WASH activities within the agreed timeframe.
Ensure that all work is conducted in a manner that is sensitive to community needs and gender issues.
Monitor acceptance of water and sanitation facilities and assess beneficiary satisfaction.
Prepare weekly work plans for the WASH team and share them with the line manager.
Prepare weekly, monthly, and field visit reports in a timely manner and share them with the line manager.

Filling out quality control forms and recording all data and notes (after examination and audit) according to the nature of the project and its characteristics.

Maintain standards of safety and comply with the health, safety, and Environment Management System requirements.
Monitoring the environmental impact of the project, determining the resulting effects and proposing appropriate treatments for them, while clarifying the extent to which the contractor is committed to improving the environmental situation.
Study and estimate the damages resulting from the failure to implement (if any), along with estimating the extent of the responsibilities resulting therefrom, identifying both parties (supervision or implementation), and then proposing appropriate solutions and treatments for that.
Review and examine the site book and verify to what extent it matches reality in terms of labor, materials supplied, storage and work carried out.
