Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee operations of the accounting and finance department, provide assistance to the Manager in preparing forecasts and budgets.
• Supervise the posting of all accounting entries in journal and ledgers and ensure accuracy; prepare trial balance, income statement and balance sheet.
• Ensure appropriate entries in the inventory item cards, maintain inventory records and carry out physical stock checks to verify actual stock matched those in records.
• Oversee closing of accounts, carry out accounting adjustments as per accepted accounting practice, locate errors in accounting data (if any) and rectify them.
• Responsible for accounting of all fixed assets of the company, ensure their details and value are accurately reflected in the Fixed Assets Register.
• Manage accounts receivable by mailing invoices to customers in a timely manner, ensuring that customers have received invoices, confirming dates by which they would clear payments (as per company policy) and sending reminders against outstanding payments.
• Responsible for accounts payable, review purchase orders and analyze invoices against these POs, recommend payments processing against vendor invoices.
• Employ the imprest system for accounting of petty cash by creating a petty cash fund, ensure accurate accounting treatment in the general ledger, and oversee disbursement and receipt of cash.
• Prepare financial statements and ensure quarterly and annual filing as per norms, analyze statements to gauge financial condition of the organization.
• Verify that the balance in company’s banking records is the same as that in the statement provided by the bank; identify and resolve disparities and ensure proper accurate reconciliation.
• Carry out financial analysis by determining liquidity ratios, leverage, profitability ratios etc.
• Ensure total compliance with accounting systems and practices in daily accounting activities, generate financial statements and ensure timely filing.
• Prepare and analyze revenue and expense reports, implemented measures to reduce costs and improve profitability.
• Provide information for accounting audit purpose, note non-conformances highlighted by auditors, and help the accounting and finance manager in eradicating non-conformances.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversaw cost accounting entailing various calculations that included production costs, average unit costs, pricing unit, profitability and cost of goods sold.
• Assessed changes in the production processes / methodology, input material or design changes that would impact cost.
• Computed standard costs and prepared reports comparing actual costs with standard costs, analyzed variances and recommended improvements where actual costs were significantly greater.
• Carried out inventory valuations, (raw material, in-process and finished goods), identified excess as well as obsolete stock and recommended disposal in line with company policy.
• Identified processes that contributed to higher costs, and implemented and suggested concrete measures to reduce costs.
• Used Activity Based Costing analysis for process improvements, and determining and reducing waste.
• Generated costing reports and presented these to the management to enable informed decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for processing vendor and service provider payments after scrutinizing invoices; also reimbursed official expenses incurred by employees.
• Made accounting entries in the company’s accounting system, monitored transactions on a daily basis and rectified any errors.
• Managed petty cash, maintained and updated petty cash register, tallied cash at hand and that in records at the end of working hours to verify these were identical.
• Assisted the accounting and finance manager for closing of accounts, bank reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
