A'laa Abdallah

I plan and run fun, adventurous and educational activities for children aged 6-8
years in this charity run global organisation. Duties include: planning sessions that
meet the requirements of the scout association to help children learn and act upon
the 5 values of scouting, running risk assessments before every session, managing
and keeping record of budget, safeguarding children, organising trips and local
walks, communicating with parents, keeping record of attendance and
achievements (badges) and reporting back to the Group Scout Leader.

I worked at various London English Language schools as a cover or temporary EFL
teacher as and when needed. I planned engaging lessons that met the objectives of
the school and adapted my approach and teaching according to the students
needs. I made sure every student feels valued, included and leaves my classroom
feeling confident they can learn English and enjoy it too.

As a temporary summer English teacher I taught an elementary class of up to 12
students. I planned lessons according to the schools scheme of work using their
coursebook, but adapting to the students needs. Duties included; planning and
delivering high quality English language lessons, conducting weekly assessments
and recording students progress, giving personalised feedback to help students
improve and attending staff training and meetings to improve quality of teaching.

I taught a class of 24 children aged 5 - 6 years in this Islamic supplementary
Saturday school. Duties included: planning lessons to meet the objectives of the
schools curriculum and schemes of work, preparing materials to aid children in
their learning, monitoring and keeping record of students progress, making
arrangements to address the individual needs of students, setting appropriate
homework and writing reports, communicating with parents and attending staff
meetings and training sessions.

I mainly assisted the early years practitioner during stay and play sessions. Duties
included: preparing activities for children; encouraging play and learning; providing
information about the Centre and the services it offers to parents; answering any
questions/concerns or leading to where assistance can be provided; translating for
Arab families where English was a second language; tidying and general
housekeeping. I also helped a disabled mother bring her child to and from the
Centre for the stay and play sessions.
